One of those pellet guns from Walmart with a scope for $50 will work fine and accurate for what you need...

re: How to get rid of mice???

I had problems with them in my deer camper out in the woods.

I just filled the camper with about 100 pounds of carbon dioxide and suffocated the little bastards.

After that, I kept poison, snap traps, and glue traps out and have never had another sign of one.

I keep one in my camp and they work. Neighbors camp didnt have one and he had lots of mice.Might want to research the dog thing though.

I cleaned my camp this past week and found lots of mouse droppings, etc, and also found a couple of snakeskins from a ratsnake. I've been thinking about trying the electronic approach. Guess I'll give it a shot.

re: How to get rid of mice???

Years ago when I lived in a trailer, we put some round bales 20 yards behind my house. Had an infestation so bought some of those traps (not the ones with fake cheese). I put them out with pecans and would run my traps in the morning. First morning I had 7.

re: How to get rid of mice???

I actually just got back from lowes with mice traps. The wife saw one in the house. A week or two ago my father was bush hogging a field and there were thousands of mice and rats running away from the tractor. It was really something to see. Like out of a horror movie. There was literally no break in them just constant rodents running around. Im guessing the mild winter may be the cause. Only saw one snake which was strange and maybe part of the problem as well.

We had mice issues a few years ago. They were having babies faster than I could catch them on the glue traps. My brother got mad at me bc I was just tossing the glue traps with mice stuck to them in the outside garbage apparently the "humane" thing to do is fold the glue trap over and "pop them like little water balloons" before you throw them away. Gross. Anyhow, we stopped them with in a few days by buying some pellets in a green box (some kind of poison) from lowes and tossing them all over in the attic. The little a-holes come inside during the winter, so try and kill them soon before they start multiplying!!

that would have been creepy to see.

any time you bushhog a field, there will definitely be mice/rats. my dog has killed thousands in our fields, but i have never seen anything like you describe

No lie, that's why my dad bought a Judge, to shoot rats while bush hogging.

re: How to get rid of mice???

For a reasonable number of mice what works in barns, sheds, camps etc is a 5 gallon bucket as a mouse trap. When you use antifreeze etc (I recommend a non toxic anti freeze so if dogs drink it they don’t die) you can put this out and come back in a month and empty the bodies out. I have caught over 20 mice between emptying the bucket. If you have red squirrels chipmunks or rats a 5 gallon bucket is not big enough just scale it up to a trash can, 55 gal drum etc they will not get out of that. Back when we had a horse farm we had rats and used the same design scaled up to a 55 gal drum. Works great for extended periods, no resetting traps, the bodies do not stink because they are pickled in the antifreeze

Below is a link on how to build one -

I did not read the whole thread so maybe this is germans to what was mentioned before but IDGAF

Not cool at all. I don't see anything funny about wanting something to suffer godawfully for a long period of time, either.

I actually agree with your brother. In fact, I would have slapped you over the head for doing that. Typically, a mouse on a glue trap will live for as long as a few days on it, frightened out of its mind and pissing all over the trap. During which it'll struggle so much that it'll pull parts of itself off, breaking its bones and gnawing off a limb to escape. Eventually, it'll starve to death.

It's a slow and painful death. What kind of douchebag throws out a glue trap like that without putting the animal out of its misery anyway? That's torture. I don't even agree with glue traps (IMO, they should be outlawed), snap traps are a lot better.

Really disgusting/cruel way to kill anything, so good on your brother for giving you a lecture. I certainly would have.
