I understand the AP gave them a title in 2003. Besides that, why do LSU fans get so angry about USC. We haven't played each other in over 30 years. There is no rivalry. We are nowhere near each other. Why do some LSU fans act like they hate USC more than Bama? I don't like them either but they aren't anywhere near the top of my list of teams I pull against.

Because with Bama we can prove we are better, with USC its so frusterating cause we get compared often (in the recent past) but can never just prove it.

If you don't know by now, there is little hope that you will ever understand.

There are a lot of fans that are still butt hurt over 2003. Even 9 years later some people can't admit that the 03 USC team was damn good.

Besides the 03AP thing, it's like Notre Dame in terms of the mindless preseason rankings they get to start each year. I just think they're overrated and still get unrelenting ESPN love.

Because they seem to be the modern day Notre Dame in how the media just falls all over themselves to annoint them as the National Champs any season they have a modicum of talent, but they play in a relatively weak conference, so it's tough to prove otherwise. The Pac12 is actually a little better this year, though, and they aren't faring so well.

And, of course, there's still a lot of hate over the whole 2003 thing.

Personally, right at this moment, I am a big USC fan, because they can help us out. They still have to play undefeated ND, and the undefeated Ducks. Come on USC, help us out here. GEAUX TIGERS beat bama

Do some research on the '79 game. Elephants aren't the only animal that never forgets. And 30yrs. from now, some of these people will still be fuming over 1/9/'12...

The SEC paranoia we dont get enough respect or at least commensurate with our record the last few years but also probably has a lot to do with a combination of that and the fact your current and last coach have a certain lowlife scumbag element to them.

The words that came out of Pete Carroll's mouth before we played the game. He said all the wrong things.

Also their blatant abuse of the rules with Orgeron and Kiffin on the recruiting trail.

USC is far too weak this year to beat ND or the Ducks. I said at the start of the season they looked like a 3 loss team, and it looks like now they might have 4, and even 5 counting the BCS bowl game they'll get to play.

I hate them because they could go 1-12 (counting the bowl game) one year, and the next be #1 to start. The media sucks their trojan dicks. Plain and simple, that's why I hate them. They prove, just like Oklahomo every year, that they aren't as good as the media makes them out to be, yet they still get ranked highly.

There are 3 teams that if they go undefeated in a set yr, they would get median hyped like they are the best team of all time & automatically entitled to being in the NCG, regardless of their schedule ( check out USC's this yr & all the preseason hype): ND, USC, and Oklahoma. This has been going on for over 50 yrs with each school & most college football fans, not just LSU's, are sick & tired of it.

Because EVERY year at the start of the season, Herbstreet and Palmer get on their knees and blow USC til their faces are covered with Trojan juice and EVERY year the most over rated QB at USC chokes on a bag of dicks at least twice. AND STILL all we get to hear on college gameday is how usc is the best 2 loss team in the nation!! Jesus Christ give me a break..

We will never play them unless we are both on top or at some obscure bowl. We will never have the chance to prove ourselves. They are located in the second largest media market and are treated like they are a pro team yet they never have to play anyone from a real conference.

All this and 2003 still gives me a case of the red arse!

Man, you are just dumb if you don't get it.

It is not just that the media (AP) gave them a title in 2003 but plenty of places refer to them as THE 2003 champion...not just co-champions with LSU. You can hear people and media say that to this day if you get outside of the South... Completely negating LSU's BCS championship.

I relocated to the OC CA because of Katrina and had to hear that shite every fricking day...it took years of therapy (and NOLA cooking) to soothe my psyche back to somewhat normal.

Plus, the yearly media drumbeat and suck-off for USC is sickening to people across the country and not just in the South. LA is a media center and they are going to shove it down your throat whether you like it or not. Do you rebel against it or take it meekly?

I'm long over the '79 game and I'm not upset about '03 because the AP poll is just a beauty contest and carries no legitimacy as far as I'm concerned. What I hate about USC is the same thing I hate about Bama: the entitlement of the fans. Their fans are smug and elitist. Yes, that's a great galloping generalization and I'm sure there are plenty of great USC fans. However all the ones I've known personally were giant douches.

Add to that the "West Coast Bias" in the media. USC is always overrated by the media and individually the players are overrated as well.

For those reasons, I'd love to play them sometime in the post-season or even as an OOC opponent during the season. If we were ever to play them in say the Rose Bowl, I'd move heaven and earth to get tickets to that game.
