another thing, why are club owners/promoters around here 'ratting' on the players?? are they not LSU fans? you would think they would give the NCAA the run around if they had to, but that don't seem to be the case

this. They are huge dicks if they did this

Club promoters really don't give a shite about those players. They're all about a dollar

Could this be one of the reasons he was kicked off the Team, along with the weed?
Regardless, he was suspended so this should cover anything he may have done, short of getting paid.

exactly... which is why you would think that they'd keep a healthy 'relationship' so they can (under the radar) keep doing it

So let me get this correct. Tyrann in no longer an athlete and no longer on scholarship so that code shouldn't apply to him and he can do what he damn well please, right?

The more I reflect on this, the more infuriated I become at SI's unprofessional recklessness. They clearly set out to do a personal interest story on Mathieu and, in the midst of their research, stumbled onto these "promotional" activities. On the barest pretext and with hardly any credible evidence of intent (or even remuneration), they decided to recharacterize youthful frivolity as "potential NCAA violations." What a load of complete sh*t. The kid appeared in some amateur videos with his friends and touted a f*cking party. A party. What benefits did he allegedly recieve? A waived cover charge, access to the VIP section, free drinks? By that standard, I guess every attractive female college athlete in history has committed NCAA infractions.

The problem is that, despite the flimsiness and frivolity of the accusations, the NCAA will feel compelled to meddle and respond because of Sports Illustrated's renown and reputation. If this nonsense affects Freak's eligibility for even a quarter, I will stab someone.

This seems like a secondary violation at best, I'd say if anything will effect his return to LSU is the fact he supposedly now has a child on the way. If the NFL is an option for him he may need the $$, even if it's not the right decision for him in life right now(I think he needs to return to the scene of being a player before the NFL)

Freak is still playing

Should tell everyone how serious these charges are from SI

The Lsu compliance department is one of the most strict in the country.

It's not difficult to find the YouTube video from March promoting the party at the Palace.

It really is upsetting. TM7 basically participated in a recreational hobby with his buddies from high school and SI takes what could have been a good human interest story and turns it into a speculative inconclusive smear job.

This article sheds NO new light and is the same ole shite served up again. If there is one new thing to learn from this, it is that when TM7 is reinstated on the football team, the party will be at The PLACE!!!

basically all tyrann has to say is that he didn't even know that his picture was on the flyer and he should be ok, right?

Yep. Clowney was in this exact same spot last year. Nothing came of it. The compliance department as LSU is one of the best in the nation, so I'm not worried.

Personally I think the NCAA is a little cautious about throwing the book at this issue. It essentially amounts to them saying "chill out club promoters, we're the only ones who get to pimp out these kids' images for a profit."
