Found this regarding one of the article reporters, Thayer Evans:

quote:

A source tells me that Mr. Evans attended Galveston College for a short time before getting a job at the Houston Chronicle. When inaccuracies in his resume were discovered, he quietly left the Chronicle for a role at the NYT office in Houston. With these new additions to his resume he was able to get a job as a sportswriter at Fox Sports. A confident of Thayer says that he was told that there is nothing illegal in accepting money from alumni of one school to write articles that portray either players or other schools as dirty. "You just have to be vague enough to avoid slander and libel charges."

Didn't some NC players get suspended for similar VIP and free booze at a party from an agent in Miami?

The agent was the problem, the party was small beans.

Evans has a history

quote:

Evans was reportedly calling professors in order to get dirt on star quarterback Cam Newton. Evans has made it clear he has it out for Newton and was in the process of continuing his witch hunt against the Heisman hopefully.

Is Thayer Evans, one of the reporters, a gump?

Probably. He attended Galveston College. Not atypical of their fanbase.

May not be a Gump, but he does like to do hit pieces for hire, so no telling whose payroll he is on right now.

I still think he goes third round in the draft

This is the bigger concern for those hoping he comes back. If NFL execs are saying he's a 3rd round pick in the next draft, then he's gone.

Then I guess the decision is to keep Mathieu and get rid of the entire LSU Compliance Department?

Tyrann Mathieu 'Permanently Ineligible To Play Football At LSU,' Says LSU Compliance Officer

+
By JP Starkey on Aug 13, 6:30p

Louisiana State's compliance officer ended any speculation that recently-dismissed defensive back Tyrann Mathieu could return to the team in 2013.
Per the Shreveport Times, Bo Bahnsen, LSU's senior associate director for NCAA compliance, declared Mathieu "permanently ineligible" at LSU.

I disagree. The money for rookies just isn't what it used to be. IMO he would have to be projected 1st or 2nd round for him to enter draft. And I don't think that will happen. And he has a much better chance of raising his stock by coming back than lowering it at this point. I think his stock took a considerable hit with the suspension so it can only go up if he returns unless he really plays terrible (which I doubt will happen) or suffers a major injury (possible and something for him to consider) upon his return.

Yeah, pictures like those don't help his stock at all. I would think he needs a year of coming back playing at the same level to prove he's overcome these antics before an NFL team is going to want to roll the dice on him.

Yeah, of course. My point still stands, though.

Hate to say it but the Honey Badger needs to move on and declare for NFL draft
Any chance of a return to LSU next year would be detrimental to the team at this point
The defense has done just fine without him this year
It would be more of a distraction than anything
Start your NFL career because someone will take a chance

Could this mean that Freak will also be suspended from LSU and that the games he played in this year will be deemed loses by the NCAA?
