re: Civilian militia army

I'm not fighting for any organized force...already fought my wars...screw 'em.

Instead, I'd train up a few buddies and stick with guerilla activities around my county where I have intimate knowledge of the area.

I'd use my old-guy "muzzle-loader" "Slab Side SP1 AR-15 (24 inch barrel) with a scope and see-through mount to use iron sights when needed.

Allows me to keep my distance, yet make 400 yd head shots all day long. Can carry lots of ammo & have a semiauto weapon in a pinch. Alternatively, a .scoped 308 bolt action rifle (or any other deer rifle) and a 9mm sidearm.

The main thing you need to consider in a SHTF scenario is what will be most readily available.

As for sidearms, I would have to go with either a Beretta 92/M9 or a Glock of some sort (even though I fricking despise them). If shite hits the fan, military supplies and police department supplies will be most readily available. I love 1911s, M&Ps, XDs, etc. but those just aren't as common. Even as anti-Glock as I am, I can see the up sides to having one. I would definitely go Beretta 92 before Glock though. 9mm would be the easiest caliber to obtain as well.

For combat rifles, AR15 all the way - Same concept applies. Extensive use of the AR15 in military and PD applications makes it the most common. There would be parts and ammo everywhere for it.

For a precision rifle, the Remington model 700 also follows the same line of being used in military and police applications. A 700 in .308 would do the job just fine.

For shotguns, the classic Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 are about as common as they get. For close quarters, a shotgun is ideal.

And for a .22, the Ruger 10/22 is definitely the most common.

Right now, all I have is a Hi-Point 9mm carbine....not bad for an urban area.

re: Civilian militia army

currently i got a shotgun and a few pistols. so i'll just hide and let them get close

i think a high powered hunting rifle would be the way to go though. hit them at long range. realistically an ar15 wouldnt be a great choice IMO b/c you're going to be close to the enemy. Who in most cases will be far superior to you. wouldnt matter how much ammo you could carry b/c you'd most likely die first

Man, I can hit a paper plate at 100 yards with one of those things all day long (iron sights). Those little things are amazing.

I'd go
Remington 700 .280
Two Beretta M9's
M249 SAW with a red dot scope

Already have the first two, but I'd switch out the .280 for a assault rifle depending on what the folks around me had.

If this hypothetical did in fact happen, the Chinese probably wouldn't have much of a chance, if we got a heads up that they were on the way. Also, I'd ditch the M9's if it were anything bigger than your average person.
