I'm just starting to realize that the brilliance of Saban-Miles-etc revolves around stopping the run and forcing terrible quarterbacks into obvious passing situations and scaring them into mistakes with blitzes.

Saban didn't work in the NFL because Tom Brady would back shoulder fade his face guarding DBs into a 500 yard day. Manning would pick apart his blitz schemes with false cadence.

Bo Wallace can't tell a corner blitz is coming when the corner comes off of his man five seconds before the snap and lines up next to the defensive end.

College quarterbacks, for the most part, are horrible. These great SEC defenses revolve around stacking the box and blitzing.

You're just starting to realize that 32 elite teams comprised of adults have better athletes/players than 128 college teams?

Dude of course it's different. NFL linemen are freaks of nature. That's why the can Bama beat whoever threads are so fricking dumb.

This post isn't driven at arguing NFL players are better than college players. It's meant to explain why the brand of the NFL is superior to the brand of college football.

If college QBs could exploit man to man coverage, my opinion would probably be different. There's a dearth of competent quarterbacks in college.

Would have been interesting to see Andrew Luck in the SEC.

Most people that post on TD think college football is better.

More power to them, but I disagree strongly.

The only thing great about college football is the fact that it feels more pure, no one is making a salary, they are just playing to win (unless you're Cam Newton).

As much as I love LSU football, teams pad their schedules with teams that are basically high school level compared to themselves. It's kind of like a wasted weekend. I'm getting tired of these games against Towson, and North Texas. Every year you have several games that are just straight up boring.

my school didn't have football while I was a student.

now that we do though, its better. We got our arse beat by Troy today though. Most people that go to South are an Alabama or Auburn fan anyway though. Their idea of loyalty to their school is almost non existent

His team was shite in his 2 seasons.

The beauty of college football lies in it's close ties and passion.

Of course the NFL is a better product if that's what you are into.

I really don't care to watch NFL outside of my team any more.. but that's just me. I enjoy the heck out of Saturdays.

I can guarantee that no one thinks the players or teams are better but the atmosphere of a big time college game, especially SEC, is 10x that of an NFL atmosphere. The students, the band, the fact that the players on the field are your classmates (if you're still in school). Nothing rivals the pageantry of college football.

College football is a revolving door of players. As soon as someone becomes a star, they leave for the NFL. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to make the sports most intricate position even more difficult when they leave so quickly. It's easier when you can find one guy to revolve your offense around for 15 years.

For elite teams in college, it's just easier to construct a plug-and-play defense not dependent on one guy

Didn't Saban beat Tom Brady's Patriots 21-0 in his first year at Miami?
