Located here temporarily and looking for some suggestions for weekend food and drink. I know about Loveless and the hot chicken joints for weekend day meals. I know about flying saucer for good beer.

There are a few little hipster bars in 5 Points in E. Nashville with some really good beer. Hard to miss at that intersection, but I can't recall the names.

Recently ate at Whiskey Kitchen and it was legit. The bourbon selection was outstanding.

Gulch area

Watermark, Sambucca, Flying Saucer, Flyte, Whiskey Kitchen and Catina Laredo are all pretty cool/hip areas to hang out with a young hip crowd. Because of 2 or 3 immense condo developments right on top of the restaurants there is always something going on here. All those places I mentioned above are about 3 blocks apart at most.

Mercy Lounge - For live music you can't beat this place. They get alot of popular 'alternative' bands and always a blast. This is 3-4 blocks from the other places I mentinoed above..all in the same area.

Food

Baja Burrito - Next to 100 Oaks Mall in the Melrose area this locally owned burrito place has the best fish tacos you'll ever eat..oh and the view is OUTSTANDING. Never been there when the clientele wasnt easy on the eyes.

Calypso - Next to Vandy near centinniel park or there's one next to Baja Burrito in Melrose they have the most amazing rotisserie chicken and you have to get the house dressing on the salad. I suggest getting all 3 curry sauces on the side so you can try them out with the chicken.

Athens Diner - Also in the same area as Calypso and Baja this place has the most amazing greek diner food. I highly recommend the dessert that I can't spell or pronounce..just tell the waitress to bring you the popular dessert..she'll know what you're talking about. Bonus: I think they're open 24 hours on the weekend.

Gabbys - Everyone knows my love of this place..a bit further up on 8th, next to Sounds stadium. Only open for lunch and until 7pm on Friday night. Grassfed beef, homemade fries (and homemade sweet potato fries) this place rocks. Tell them to put a fried egg on top.

Kien Ghiang - Its good to be the kien. Best vietnamese food in Nashville hands-down located on Charlotte just south of white bridge road. Get the pork bun bowl and a side of spring rolls (delish) and the Cafe Du Monde coffee with sweetened condensed milk and you'll leave in a caffiene-and-sugar-induced stupor. Don't forget to douse your bun with the red sauce with the pissed off rooster on the side.

Royal Thai - about a block from kein ghiang on white bridge road..very good thai. yum.

La Hacienda - Nolensville Road just south of 440. Really there is no competition for authentic taqueria mexican food. The chorizo & eggs and the burrito are to die for. I can eat an entire bottle of green sauce..usually I grab a second one from a nearby table. My absolute favorite mexican restaurant.

eta come join us at jed's sat night for the LSU/Towson game. nashville lsu alumni assoc. rocks.

Thanks! I'll be at the game this weekend, but I'm sure to make some view-ins.
