However, I was FFWDing last night and caught a glimpse of his pink bird sitting on his head and had to rewind it and watch that shite.

I love when the bird shows up in his little interviews.

The dude who sang Crazy was good..why the hell didn't anybody turn around..? That was a cool arse version of that song and he sounded great IMO.

I meant to touch on this and I'm glad you brought it up. I was on the other side of this. If you haven't heard it before, go listen to Seal rock this song in his acoustic version. Go do it. I'll wait.

fricking awesome huh? That version of that song is one of my favorite acoustic renditions of a song ever. It builds steadily to a WOW moment that keeps going which this guy avoided and his performance suffered because of this. I have a feeling the judges have heard Seal do this before and were waiting for it and never got it. I was pumped when he started playing it but was disappointed in what I heard.

Preface: (I didn't listen to it, but I think I've heard it before)

You may be right, but that still doesn't mean that the dude isn't good. I thought he sounded really cool and mellow. I mean, the dude who sang I Wish It Would Rain obviously didn't sing it anywhere near as good as David Ruffin did, but he was still good and got picked. Same with almost everyone else on the show.

Yeah but I think the main difference is that if you pick a song that has a big moment or moments you can't avoid them. To me (and maybe to the coaches) it's a way of admitting that you cant do it and they dont like that. The guy was good and could have gotten picked with a different song but I think the "letdown" of his rendition is what did him in

Speaking of the other guy, who was your favorite performance of the blind auditions? I would have to go with either the guy who did I Wish It Would Rain or that Benji guy

ETA: Also why is Christina Millian on this show at all? What purpose does she serve? I would really like to know how much they pay her to a) tell me how to use Twitter and watch the show and b) do something that Carson could easily handle.

I understand what you're saying, and you may be right. I just think back to someone like Javier Colon...everybody except Blake had turned around long before he started getting to the apex of his performance, and that's because they heard how good he was. To me, I could hear how good this dude was, yet nobody turned around. I agree that they didn't "wow" them, but that hasn't been necessary for many, many contestants before him. Who knows, maybe when we went counted against him and had he gone earlier, someone would've turned.. And they know better than I do, which is why they get paid millions to do it and I sit at home and watch them and bitch about what they do and don't do.

As for my favorite...I'm not sure. I really liked I Wish It Would Rain dude, but that's because I am incredibly partial to that song. I'd have to see a montage of all the performances to decide that. I may actually watch the "Best of blind auditions" show tonight to recap who all made it on the show...and maybe even to catch the performances that didn't originally air (fricking NBC).

And I completely agree on Milian...she is awful and serves no purpose IMO. I guess from NBC's perspective they wanted to get some "hot, young starlet" to draw attention to the social media angle of the show, but it falls flat IMO with her..which leads me to believe she's basically only on air for eye candy. And the social media thing is something they push HARD, always flashing up Twitter messages left and right on the screen and whatnot.

I think I'm skipping tonight except to hopefully catch the ones they skipped over earlier. I want to see the Broussard girl from Lafayette as I know her cousin.

NBC loves them some Twitter. The Seacrest Twitter segments during the Olympics were beyond stupid.

I really enjoy your recaps. The shite you say is usually what Im thinking while I watch the show. Good work dude.

My opinions/observations thus far:

Christina seems to have toned down the bitch this year, but I still want to donkey punch that slut bag.

Even though Cee Lo doesnt sale himself enough, I really enjoy his attitude and some of the funny stuff he says. He is a cool dude in my book. Even with his T-rex arms and little hands

If I see one more bitch whining about being bullied Im gonna kick a frickin puppy. This has gotten out of hand. Its like its soooo cool now to have issues that everyone has grown up with at one time or another. I automatically root against them for being weak minded cowards.

Adam and Blake are awesome and I enjoy their chemistry, but I feel like Adam is gonna take it this year. His squad is loaded.

This is the fricking truth. And I feel like they are all making it up or exaggerating so that they can have a story to overcome. Is there not one talented singer with a normal childhood?

The worst was the one with the eating disorder. I swear they told Cee-Lo to ask her about where the pain in her voice came from, because her little speech seemed practiced to me.

Yeah, I thought he was good too. I also really liked the girl who sand "American Boy". I thought she was better than the original version.

And don't get me started on Christina'a boobs. Those things throw me off everytime I see them.

Did they show the girl from Broussard yet? I've had it on, but I haven't paid close attention.

Yes, and it was completely worthless.

At least show some full performances of the people that were glossed over before.

frick.

No problem.

ETA: If I had answered before the show I would have at least guessed that they would show some more of the people glossed over before, but I'd have been wrong.

Not that I noticed... but it's been 4 weeks so I could be forgetting someone.

The chick that sang "Hallelujah" was featured... and I couldn't remember if she was featured before or not.
