I know that it is done for basketball quite often, and hell probably for math and engineering teams, but seriously, I we have to Australian punters, Bama has a DT from down under, so what other type of athletes could we get internationally? What positions do you think could readily be available? Is it too risky since the US only has American football? What countries would be the best to recruit? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Track seems to do pretty well with recruiting from the Bahamas and Caribbean.

And he then went pro...in Canada.

There are International American Rules football teams, but I don't think they are more than an intramural or city league sport.

I bet you could get some soccer players to play running back. Not ALL of those guys are total wussies right?

There are lots of foreign players, and not just kickers. Foreign amateur leagues are improving. Boise has had a few players from Belgium. Florida State has a British tackle right now. LSU recruited him as well.

I flamed out on Juan Roca, but Juan Betanzos was from Mexico City.

id try africa, ive been to Zimbabwe twice and there a re a bunch of tall and lanky guys that could play some WR if they were in the system a few years. guys would be motivated ALOT to be able to do well, earn a scholarship, get a degree, then send money back home after getting a job for needy family. or just get good enough to get into the NFL..

i actually taught some elementary age kids how to play football while i was in zimbabwe. it was hard to get them out of the rugby mindset...lol
