Good question, not sure. But he has 2 years eligibility I believe.

He's got 2 years of eligibility left

Junior I think. Since he's got 2 years left to play. And he was gonna be a junior this season...

I really don't think you can count a season long suspension as a redshirt.

Honestly, I really don't know. But if he does play again, it'll be one season then he's off to the NFL

No, the fact is he is not on the team. He can't be suspended if he's not on the team.
2 to play 2.

I know that seems great, but that is pretty obvious, and seems like something the NCAA would have a rule against.

He has 5 years to play 4 seasons. So a junior.

Not trying to be a jerk. You think the NCAA has some sort of special rule against TM? No, they don't.
He's not on the team. He can't be suspended if he's not on the team.
If he makes it back to the team, he has two more eligible years, as would anyone in any school, per the NCAA.

He would be a Junior. Whether he would be considered a redshirted junior or a junior, I don't know. Doesn't really matter, cuz he wouldn't redshirt anyways, he will play.

god just make it stop. You people will just not give up. He is pulling a brett favre on you.....worry about THE LSU TEAM please....not about someone not on the team. These threads should be whacked.

He would definitely be a redshirt junior. If it is an NCAA suspension the missed season can't be considered a redshirt, but that isn't the case here.

I don't know the exact rule but it's something like 5 years to play four and the clock starts when you first enroll. Josh Booty enrolled thinking baseball would let him out of his contract. When they didn't and he reported back to baseball the clock was rolling. When he finally got to LSU he only had a couple of years left on his eligibility even though he was never on the roster.

He will be a senior next year. Your eligibility starts when you enroll in your first college class. I guess you could call him a RS junior next year, but I don't think you can RS someone not on the team. He is a junior right now.

You can call him a junior. You can call him a senior. You can call him a zombie. Doesn't matter what you call him. He would have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining and 2 years in which to play them.

His eligibility clock started in 2010 and he has 5 to play 4. He doesn't have to be on the team for this to be considered a redshirt year. See Josh Booty 1997 and 1998.
