This is a good post with one exception. Entergy has right of way and while they regularly get bitched at by homeowners about butchering their beloved trees they still cut them away. The homeowner has no choice in the matter. And I also disagree with the post about charging. I've had many trees trimmed on various pieces of property and some at my request and never have they told me there was a fee. That person needs to call a supervisor with Entergy and explain that discussion.

And by that I mean I've had lines at the roads as well as individual service to my building trimmed.

You can't say people are wrong for bitching when upset.

Lets say we are both hurt in a wreck and i lose an arm and you break a leg. Is your pain not real? Sure you are no where near as hurt as me, but you still have a broken leg it will heal but it's better than losing an arm. Are youwrong for complaining about the pain if someone was hurt worse than you in the same accident? No.

That is what this is, sure others have it worse, but man it still sucks.

JP was never given budget for the lift station generators, only for the drainage pumps. John Young has said this

I think you have this story wrong. Homey got his truck stuck in the mudd his own damnself is what I heard.

Either way, that whole idea of setting up the photo shoot is just stupid. I hate politicians.

My company did a study on generator sizing for two JP lift stations, but as far as I know, they never had the funding to authorize purchase /construction.

Maybe for most. Downtown Covington and still no power and had to be on the phone all day just to get an update and not one truck has been in the neighborhood. City Hall closed. Everyone else in Covington city limits restored. Still on a generator.

Do you have power yet? The Cleco shows it back on now in practically all of Covington.

i guarantee you this fricking a-hole will run for state office next election term...and the first thing in his campaign ads will be "remember when i yelled at Entergy during Isaac?!?!?!?"

and people will eat that shite up and vote him in based solely on that. because that's nearly what made Billy Fatgesser our Lt. Gov.

The Entergy customer service rep has to be the worst I have heard in a while. Sheila Pounders has to be taken off the TV and radio. She does a poor job of making Entergy sound competent. She basically made it sound like all the crews do for 2 days is drive around doing paperwork. I know those guys are working hard and long hours. My guess is Entergy has piss poor planning along the lines of Kathleen Blanco.

re: So John Young was on the radio going off on Entergy

Some people say that John Young is just being dramatic for political purposes. They say he's exaggerating for dramatic effect.

Well, that would be a very risky political strategy. I heard his press conference live, and, his tone was unlike what you usually hear with politicians. He was very angry, and his words left no doubt that he saw evidence that absolutely lead him to the conclusion that Entergy is fricking this thing up big time.

If Entergy can show that John Young is dead wrong, then John Young's political career is in jeopardy, and Young will have done this to himself.

On the other hand, if investigation into the facts reveals that John Young is CORRECT, then, he will politically benefit, as he should.

Right now, we don't know all the facts. John Young called upon the La. state authorities to investigate this matter. This is the correct path.

Not yet, but crews have arrived and are working on it. It took relentless phone calls yesterday and last night to many people, but at least we know it is being addressed and are thankful.

True on the ground, but not necessarily in the air. Go sit in on a meeting uptown when Entergy tries to trim trees in Uptown NOLA. Its like killing baby seals.

Do people actually think that Entergy, or any elec company, has a crystal ball they can look in before a storm hits and can see what areas will be affected and how? Its pretty friggin hard to plan for the unknown.
And again, my power with Entergy never went out

he definitely is. he's doing exactly what nungesser did post-BP oil spill. natural disasters are the only time these no-name fricks have to shine. his twitter followers nearly DOUBLED over night when he did that. the only reason he did it is to have his name get out there.

Right, becasue local politicians never grandstand to get their name in the paper.

I highly doubt there will ever be any investigation other than the reviews that already happen after a major outage. The power industry is a massive, I repeat, MASSIVE copycat industry. Reps from major power providers all of the country, sometimes even the world, regularly meet along with regulatory agencies to review and establish procedures for major outages, how to respond to emergencies, etc. Chances are, Entergy does it the same way other companies in Florida, North Carolina, or anywhere else do it. They don't just close their eyes, point at the map, and say, "I think we'll start here." There is an established procedure for restoring an outage. IE: this goes on first, then this, then this, and so on.

Think of the grid as the interstates and roads in Baton Rouge (All BRTIOOC jokes aside, please). If you are resoring traffic flow, first thing you'd do is fix the bridges across the river. Next, you'd probably prioritize to the exits for major roads like Airline, Siegen. Next, youd try to fix lights at major intersections, to allow traffic to flow to the smaller street. The stop sign on Alvin Dark thats missing, while necessary, is not exactly the most important issue in the grand scheme.

You people need to accept that you are talking about something you don't understand, and it is not something that the CSR is going to be able to explain to you.
