MY GF lives on Oak, and we have walked past it several times on our way to cowbell (which has always been either packed or closed) and it always smells good. Any reviews?

It is worth trying for sure. It isn't mindblowing or anything. But a good option. My son likes the pulled pork sandwich and the atmosphere is good. Never had an issue with service.

This is what I would say as well. I am not sure how well it does though.

Sounds like we will have to give it a go. People we know had tried and and one of them didn't like it, but he is from Arkansas. So idk what the general level of BBQ is up there.

Its solid BBQ IMO

We always complain NOLA doesn't have good BBQ, but when decent ones open, we complain and don't embrace it for whatever reason.

I don't think most people are complaining.

Had it for the first time this past weekend. I wasn't impressed. The brisket was decent, the pulled pork was super dry, and the baked beans were a little less than meh. Good atmosphere, but doesn't make up for the food, imo. Sauce wasn't that great, either. I probably won't be back.

Probably in the top 3 places for ribs in the city. I don't understand why bbq doesn't do very well.

I agree. I think they do ribs really well. The place as a whole is not cheap.

It's one of my go to spots when visiting. Casual atmosphere, dining indoor or out, I enjoy their pulled pork and dark BBQ sauce and my wife is a big fan of the squeal pie. She's very picky and eats like a bird yet somehow can finish an entire bowl. It gets my vote.

Servers are generally very welcoming and hospitable. The food is usually pretty consistent. But, it is pretty consistently average in my opinion. And by average, I still do mean acceptable. They do have a pretty decent beer selection if that is your thing (seriously, take a look at it, you'll be very impressed for a BBQ joint). I recently posted in another thread that you cannot get great BBQ in New Orleans and I still stand by that. Squeal is one of my top 3 or 4 spots in New Orleans (I actually visit it probably the most due to living in the Garden District). The people are nice, the beer is good, the atmosphere is solid, and other places (Hillbilly, The Joint, etc.) are just not good enough in my honest opinion for me to go out of my way for.

As a native New Orleanian living in South Carolina, we don't.

you gotta get the pulled pork grits and grillades. i thought it was very good. also they have some kind of casserole that is delicious. all of the specialty meals are good. if you just want meat then go to the joint. they have the brisket ive ever had

try the Honey Baked Ham Martini.

I like it, not the best BBQ, but has a better menu than almost any other place I have been to. (most BBQ places don't have many options on the menu)

I embrace the local Q and eat it 1-2 times a week. Developed a craving for BBQ after living in Texass and I'm happy to have better options here than we did before the storm.
