re: 2013 LSU Baseball Commitment List

Yes, I think it will be the best we've had in several years. We appear to have a bunch of guys that are highly regarded but not quite in the guaranteed top 5 round category. Just looking at the numbers we'll probably lose a few, but should be able to find 4 or 5 guys that can be solid fairly quick. Combine them with Bregman, Laird, Stevenson, and Chinea and I think we'll have the best lineup we've had in a while.

We also may be on the brink of not fielding a lineup full of 5'8 players.

I agree.

Out of Williams, Longhi, Roberston, DeHart, Dean, Fraley, and Zardon I only see Williams leaving as of now. A ton of bloodline in those commits.

It'll be similar to the class of Dean, Mitchell, Ochinko, and Schimpf in terms of production.

I know of Dean, DeHart, and Robertsons ties. Any others to be aware of?

And is Robertson supposed to be sort of the heir apparent at 2B to Jacoby Jones?

I'm thinking the staff might've made a mistake in targeting Cartwright over Tidwell from ZHS whom is going to NWST. Maybe others can chime in with more info but that's just what I've observed from the 2.

Do not sleep on the Jordan twins out of Barbe, they will bring exceptional bats to the lineup.

He has a great arm. God Given. locates his fb and curve. Cruises 86-88, still throwing that in the 7th. Hitters think he is throwing in the 90's and he hits that every now and then.

Please dont take offense to this, but he was way better as a JR. Is there any reason for that, you think. Number of innings thrown over the past year or something?

re: 2013 LSU Baseball Commitment List

ReelFun, I redact what I posted earlier. I was the plate ump for the game Saturday vs Episcopal and was really impressed. It was my first time working as a plate ump in a Runnels game since 2011 whereas I've seen Tidwell this year, so maybe I was off base with the previous comment. Cartwright located his pitches well, was crafty w/ offspeed stuff and good enough FB pop to succeed at SEC level with continued development. I saw Nola a few times in 2011 and really don't think they are that far apart in terms of stuff and abillity to fill up the zone (based on my small body of work in seeing both at the HS level). Props to a few of the EHS hitters for some good swings. I thought the pitch on the hit that sent the game to extras was well located, the hitter just won that battle. Any chance he sees AB's at LSU? He looked pretty confident in the box. Congrats to you and your son and I look forward to following his career. I may try to make it out to watch Runnels in the playoffs if they are afforded the opportunity to host

I'm not sure how close they are but they still have a lot of family in the Hammond area.

Thanks mmill32. I agree that he and Nola are a lot alike in their abilities for throwing strikes. LSU is not big on their pitchers playing the field so IDK if he will ever get to bat. He is a great hitter, even though his numbers are down a little the last couple of years. He lost interest in hitting since he committed to LSU. He is a very good middle infielder, but he would really be an asset in left or right field, he can throw any base or home on the fly. He has only played outfield a few innings in his life. When he was 12 I think, he was playing center field and twice made an 8-3 out. the umpire missed the first one and the crowd went wild. He didn't miss the second one. lol
