frick Aegon, dude...If he is in fact a Blackfyre, and it is eventually revealed in the books (which will end up in significantly less support for his claim to the throne) then why is his story even relevant to the show?
The writers know the ending of the story and they will not leave out anything of importance. This omission tells me that Aegon is in fact a Blackfyre and his story will seemingly be unimportant. With all the other story arcs they have to fit into a 10 episode season, it's really not that big of a deal.
Give me a break. Do you really not think that Aegon is not going to be a gigantic part of WoW? If I had to guess, Aegon will be sitting on the Iron Throne at the end of the book. If Aegon is legit, then I think Jon has no real claim. Plus Aegon not being in it totally changes Varys character in the series and what he's really been up to. The fact that he is a Blackfyre is more relevant and interesting than if he was just swapped at birth. Plus it makes no sense why Varys would support Rhaegar's son when he played Aerys and Rhaegar against each other.
If I had to guess what ADOS will be, the 7 Kingdoms will be divided in 2: Aegon ruling the South, Sansa ruling the North (at least theoreticall), and Dany at Dragonstone with a fraction of her army she had in Essos feared by everyone. Really it more comes down to Tyrion vs Varys vs Littlefinger in the end, and Tyrion will beat them by choosing to save the realm rather than conquer it. If you have Tyrion and Varys on the same side, I think it ruins what it could become.

Or maybe you're being insanely speculative and putting the pieces together before you even have a puzzle?
Instead of sitting here criticizing the writers for leaving out a character YOU feel will be important to the ending, why can't you just trust that they have WAYYY more information than you do and wouldn't leave out such a crucial cog?

Then I'm more pissed at Martin completely wasting our time with this character. No reason he should have been introduced this late into the story if he's not important to the endgame.

There have been plenty of characters introduced into the story that have abrupt endings and seemingly unimportant arcs...It's not uncommon in GRRM's story writing.

But to Aegon's extent? Aegon is everything Varys has been building up. I really think it would be a glorious waste of time. It's not like Robb or Ned that can really further the story.

So, sadly it seems as if the trailer has confirmed that Aegon is completely out. I have to say this will be the biggest departure in the series so far, and I'm kinda pissed about it. Seems with both Euron and Aegon out of the picture, they've dumbed down the series to merely Dany vs Cersei.
Well the show creators do know how the books are eventually supposed to end.
So it only makes sense they leave out non essentials to the ending they have been told

without scrolling up, i assume you're discussing that it appears aegon is not to be included in the show?
i guess they had to cut something, but this is disappointing
it also means tyrion will likely be going straight to Dany

I hope not.
But as far as leaving story lines out goes, I can see them leaving Aegon and Coddington out. Which could be a bad spoiler for the books.
Im confused as to why they have Tyrion and Varys as BFF. Im not GRRM, but at this point id be jumping out on my relationship with the show. Obviously he loves him some money, but somewhere Id draw the line as far as money goes if it is going to almost ruin a series that you have been worked decades on. Ruin it as far as a bunch of readers go.

Off topic but Im rereading AFFC
I'm reading the boiledleather.com recommended chapter order for a combined AFFC/ADWD (first read, though) - called "A Ball of Beasts" (don't ask). I'm only about 10% of the way through, and I already feel the maturity of the writing. I got through GoT fairly quickly, slogged through ACOC and flew through ASOS. I'm trying to finish before the season starts, but I realize that the season itself is 3 months long - I just need to get ahead and stay ahead - not read 4 or 5 chapters a day.
(ETA: I was a HODOR through the end of last season - I had to abandon them due to their paranoia and ignorance. I pegged the R+L=J halfway through the first season and got branded a reader.)

Come on now; did you really expect it to be? I'm going to be happy if he finishes TWOW at all because I really don't think there's a chance we ever see book seven complete so just getting one more will be nice.

You can rest easy, that essentially means nothing. The publisher is basically saying they haven't been updated on his progress, its like pleading the 5th. You can attribute this to GRRM being a jackass and telling nobody how much he has written.
All she is saying is that it isn't in her schedule. Which, it wouldn't be, not until he finishes. When he does finish, us, editors, publishers, will all abruptly find out. That's what he has said anyway.

Honestly they can introduce Aegon later in the tv series and cut the young griff BS. The only real impact of Tyrion in that point of the story is that he knows about Aegon and he sways him to go ahead and head to Westeros, right?
