Im still curious how big a part lady stoneheart can play, and if she will be part of anything major
Although these books are always 100 small things rather than a couple big ones

So we finally get some details on dragon training and use.

Since dragons will only accept and bond with riders of Targaryen blood, the story chronicles the search for bastard-born “dragonseeds” to join the fray (with mixed results)—a subplot which clearly holds some potential relevance for Daenerys and her trio of dragons as events continue to unfold in the novels
Does this shoot down Tyrion as one of the "three heads"?

Also, did Martin ever specify were they buried Robert? I would think as long as it wasn't impossible to get to, couldn't Thoros and Baric have tried to capture his body so as to resurrect him? Would be pretty bad arse.
Damn. Now that you mention it, I don't think they talk about his funeral at all.
He mentioned they better serve the boar at his funeral on his deathbed, but that's the only reference I remember.
shite popped off pretty quick once he died, so I think they just skipped it??
Perhaps Renly took his body with him when he fled KL to SE, but more likely the funeral was just held while Ned was in the black cells. We don't really know how long he was down there. But Sansa and Arya were both around KL in POVs and neither mentioned a funeral either
Either way, unless Renly took his body, no way Beric/Thoros were getting to it if he was buried in KL, although that would be pretty fricking badass.
Un-Robert vs. Franken-Gregor would be a clash of the Titans for sure, and you know Robert would love to be the one to seal that bitch wife of his' fate
"Sorry Gravedigger, but I got this shite."

Well wasn't there some speculation that Aerys, who coveted Joana Lannister had some carnal relation with her, whether it be consensual or rape. It's possible Tyrion is Aerys bastard.

don't go there, but yes it is a theory despised by most ASOIAF aficionados.

I really think the lady who wrote that review was mistaken on this point and the Targ's weren't the only Valyrian dragonriders, just the only ones to escape the Doom. But this particular line of dragons may well be bonded to the Targ bloodline.
And I'm still wondering if Euron's dragonhorn would bind them to the Greyjoy line?

We know that all of his children have a certain amount of warg to them (Bran being the strongest)
If the direwolves were the spark that triggered the latent ability, then Rickon's been warging since he was two. Just how badass is he by now?

I kinda think Rickon is going to be the next Stark death but he will definitely warg into Shaggy Dog.

My money would be on Arya to be the next Stark to fall
I don't see what would be gained from killing off Rickon.
I could see Davos saving him though.

It's the theory I despise the most. All it would do is get Tyrion off the hook for kinslaying and completely ruin his and Tywin's relationship. Tyrion would be actually happy to be the Mad King's son over Tywin's, so it's bullshite.
I'd much rather have Jaime and Cersei be the Mad King's children. It would certainly add to both of their characters and make them question everything about their lives.

I'd say Rickon is by far the most likely Stark to make it through the series alive. Someone needs to continue the line.

I think Rickon has the best chance at surviving for sure and continuing the Stark line.
Arya is the one who is the most likely to die IMO. And I don't see Bran returning from beyond the Wall.
So in regards to which Starks will survive, I say Sansa and Rickon. I think Jon will too once he comes back. He has a very important role to play.
ETA: I'm really excited to read Davos POV chapters in Skagos and really get to see how the Skaagosi are compared to the lore and tales about them being a bunch of cannibal pirates .
I am of the belief that the Starks have some Skaagosi lineage in the recent past (~100 years) and that they want to support a Stark in Winterfell.
I want the Great Northern Conspiracy to happen!!!

See I'm the opposite. I think what we've seen of Rickon seems to suggest he's going to grow up as hot-tempered and/or a bit of a loose cannon. Especially if the wolves are a reflection of the child's demeanor (how reckless has Shaggy Dog been at times?).

Agreed. He is going to be a child prodigy warrior in my opinion. He has ridiculous physical strength.

So if certain lines of dragons are bound to certain families, then we know for certain that the current active line of dragons is bound to Dany and through her the Targaryen line. The Targ line is pretty twisty, it terms of how much is left. There was a ton bastards from Aegon IV and their decendants are probably still afoot so all you would really need is to find someone claiming to have a touch of the blood (Mr. Plumm anyone?). So that opens up the field for new contenders but I think there has been a contender in plain sight this whole time.
House Baratheon was founded by Aegon I's greatest general who was rumored to be his bastard brother. So if we follow down the line a bit we are left with a bunch of strong contenders with a pretty serious touch of the blood. This means that Stannis, Edric, Gendry, hell even Mya Stone could all be dragon riders. But, there is one contender that has more going for her than all the rest, Shireen. She is practically part dragon from greyscale and is full of king's blood. Maybe some of that has the touch that Dany needs to win back the Seven Kingdoms.
Is this fact, hell no man, its Crackpot.

I think that Rickon is going to grow up to be like Brandon. He's going to be hot-headed, proud, and an excellent warrior. I seriously doubt Bran has much in common personality-wise with his namesake. Arya has alot in common with her aunt, and Robb has alot in common with his father.

My worry is that he's so hot-headed that he gets himself killed.
Posted on 8/2/13 at 11:39 am to BluegrassBelle
So, if Rickon having the "wolf's blood" is so hot-headed that he dies, do you think Jon would become the Stark in Winterfell?? Or would Sansa take over...
These are my thoughts on Jon:
Maybe I'm being too hopeful for Jon, but based on his last couple of chapters in ASoS, you can tell he is really conflicted in terms of wanting to be legitimate vs. staying with the Night's Watch. He even reflected on being able to hold a son in his arms one day. I think, that once Jon is revived, no way he's going to want to remain with a bunch of disloyal traitors and the Wall is going to come down in TWoW. Therefore his duty with the NW will be complete and he'll be able to go down south of the Wall again and win Winterfell back and seek justice for his family. I definitely think he'll meet Howland and learn about his past, and he'll go in the Winterfell crypts and find out about his parentage (like the recurring dream he has). I want Jon to have the happy ending he deserves. He's been marginalized and treated like crap his whole life and deserves better.
FWIW Rickon and Arya, to me, have the most Wolf's Blood out of all the kids. Robb was similar to his dad with his sense of "honor" and Sansa is most like her Southern side. Although, based on the essay I posted yesterday, Sansa is starting to come around and accept her Northern side more and become a winter woman. The South has given her a lot of bad memories and she no longer sees knights and songs and the Seven as romantic or dreamy. Jon is definitely the most "Northern" out of all the kids and has proven to make good decisions off the cuff (for the most part).
