Thinking about tinting my windows in my house. Any suggestions? Pros, cons, price, and look?

I put thermal screens on my west facing windows about 10 years ago. They work fantastic and greatly reduced the temp in the west facing rooms.

Make sure you get someone to put the 3M tint. Other than that, get multiple quotes. I got two and they were significantly different for the exact same film.

It is worth it. I've tinted numerous houses, businesses. The ROI is definitely worth it. Should be around $4-$5.50 a sq ft. And 3m is not the best. Definitely get multiple quotes.

On the side which get the most sunlight I use a 20%. If the customer wants lighter I use a 35% dual reflective. Makes a major difference. It should drop your electricity bill on average 10-20% plus keeps everything cooler, reduces if not eliminates fading. Plus puts a safety shield (breakage) on glass

Surprisingly, no. More like a filtered light. You can take the screens off in the winter if you want more sunlight, but we just leave them on. When I think back on it, the screens have been in place for over 15 years not 10 years. Mine were installed for less than $50 a window., and don't show any wear. Noticeable change in the room temp during summer

My neighbor installed one on their second floor SW facing window and they love the result.

I got my entire house done (front and back) for just over 3200. Four windows (1 large curved bay) in the front and 6 in the back. I also get a tax credit for the "green upgrade" on my house (not sure exactly how much). The guy was nice. Its a small operation the owner and his wife did the install. Nice people. I paid exactly what I was quoted.

I was thinking of just doing a few windows that get significant sunlight. Was there a reason you did your entire house?

We went with the screens as oppose to the film, wife liked them better. I believe our house is one of the photos on their website. He asked if he could use it, not sure if they did
