Maybe I'm the only one, but I think the updated logo (V2) looks a TON better than the original. I don't quite get why you mirrored it so he's facing left instead of right, but I think the meaner eyes and more open mouth look like he's roaring instead of singing in the church choir.
Do the revisions make it a great logo? No. Not even close. It is much better though. In all honesty, the helmet tiger isn't all that great either... it's just what we're most used to.

Thank you. And that's all I was trying to prove; that Toonces wouldn't have been that bad if they executed correctly the first time and made him look more aggressive.
But I'm much more in favor of the eye logo or just the LSU in geaux font.

Personally, I think the mouth was fine as it was originally.
I do like the more aggressive look.
Also, I prefer the gold outlines of the LSU.

If it were up to me, use the new Geaux font, and place the eye of the tiger just below that.

I like this tiger head. Tiger District calls it LSU 86 but I don't recall that logo ever.

I think the "tiger eye" logo in DV should be the official, primary logo.
I think the Eye is the most distinctive and generally bad arse logo in all of college sports.
Just my two cents / unsolicited input.

1) looks closely at Mike the Tiger, and tell me he has low/rounded ears. It makes him look timid (even with the mean teeth)...so, make them a tad bit longer and less rounded to make him look mean and hungry...there is no room for timidity in ourt mascot
2) Screw the black...use a dark purple for the stripings and other accompanying aspects. Purple and Gold and White. It is a mascot, not a real animal, so there is no reason we cannot adjust the colors accordingly, as long as it look strong and close enough. This would help distinguish up further from all the other bogus Tigers out there, like Clemson, Auburn and Princeton with their orangeish tigers, and from Mizzou with black and gold that matches their school colors.
3) There is no merit in reversing his direction. Facing to the right is symbolic of moving forward aggressively, so change that back also
Do those things, and you might have something worth reallying behind

I've always wished that this would be our official logo (obviously, without the silver square outline)
Or, just the eye by itself. Looks much cleaner than what we have now.
