Does anyone know an ball park figure for one day or weekend? I am sitting in a class and cannot call myself. Thanks!

Most companies won't rent a dozer to your average slap dick like yourself unless you open a commercial acct and have a million dollar insurance policy.
Do you have those things?

not sure the price, but Louisiana Machine in Lafayette will rent to non-licensed people. Where will you need the dozer?

there was a place in Ascension who delivered a backhoe to me for a week. Think i paid like $700 for the week. I don't know if they would rent a dozer though.

No, I don't have those things, however, I just got a price of 770/day. Not bad for your average slap dick.

What exactly is the average of a slap dick?

I would think that googling something like that would be a bad choice...

I hadn't even thought of that... but I bet you're right.

On a seri-eye note, Will...
don't run over nuthin with that thang that you like the way it already looks. Including yourself.
Also, get someone to video the whole damn operation, just in case you do. That's why youtube was made...

You would be waayyy better off paying someone who owns a dozer by the hour to do the work you want. Last time I had any work done on my land it was about $125 an hour. Someone who operates a dozer for a living can do the job a lot more efficiently and cheaply than you can. Plus, if something tears up (very common) its on them and not you.

I paid $80 an hour for a C480 and operator. Some things are left to someone that knows what they are doing.

dozers are inherently dangerous...if the operator isn't fully insured and gets hurt you better watch out...just my two cents

Bulldozers are a lot of fun to drive. Got to doze an old slave house when I was in highschool.

Make sure you yield to dogs.
And have fun pushing shite around. Cheaper to hire someone in the long run if it's just a few days work but not as fun.

$70-90/hr is about what most guys charge, depending on the equipment. I have heard of guys renting out dozers to individuals on a weekly basis. Put an ad in the classifieds on one of those sportsman sites and see if you get a bite. I'd be willing to bet there is someone with a sizer sitting idle that could use a couple hundred bucks.

If you have some serious work to be done with big trees, go ahead and pay more for the bigger dozer. It will be cheaper in the end to pay 125/hr for a big one to snap trees like a toothpick than to pay 90 having someone spend an hour on a tree that won't fall.

Where you looking to have some work done? If in nw LA, I can make some calls and maybe get you a dozer and an operater at a decent price.

Louisiana Machinery (CAT Rental Store)as well as most of the "big box" rental houses like United, RSC, Hertz, etc. will rent to you. They will charge you for insurance unless you have a business policy that they can use to waive their own. Your cost will be tied to size and type of dozer, delivery, insurance, length of rental, and fuel usage, unless you have a source of diesel to refuel it. Like renting a car and returning it on "E", they will all bend you over on the fuel charge so avoid it if you can.

Volvo Rents had the cheapest prices when I looked a while ago. They will deliver too
If you are trying to push trees bigger than 12" over, I would suggest you get a D6 or 750 Deere. If they don't push down, you have to cut away the roots with the blade.
Also, go slow. It takes a lot of practice to get to the point where you can go fast and be proficient. Don't rush it, you won't get good over a weekend.
Take videos and put them on YouTube.
Do you even know how to make one move?
