re: Will this be Devery Henderson's last year as a Saint?

I love Devery... his career has been so unique, especially for a Saint. He'll get to play his whole career in the state he loves. He's been through shitty times and great times. He's won a Super Bowl. And he'll go out a much loved staple of the greatest period in Saints history.

Until someone does what he does better than him he stays.

Shanle has laid waste to every player thaty has dared to challenge him.

If Morgan can develop into a legit deep threat, it might be tricky.

I looked at his stats and it's hard to believe that he's only caught 19 TD's for his entire career.
AND, he had two in two games last season and finished the season with only those TWO...how does that happen???
Without Meachem, I think he sees a few more deep balls...whatever that is worth.

Somebody before the 09 season (I think it was Lester Earl) said if DH was our #2 we're in trouble. The only reason I know this is because someone linked it earlier this year.
That thread won a Datty.
Also sweet was the Reggie Bush supporters thread and the who here is not bandwagon....lots of butt hurt in that one.

If you look at his play on the field, particularly his down field blocking, you'll see that there are contributions that he makes that don't show up on the stat line.
Dude went from being a one dimensional deep threat to a complete WR.

Sure did and still doesn't get the credit he deserves from this fanbase, which is sad

I like Devery, but if you ever expected him to put up numbers like Jordy Nelson put up as a #2 receiver last year, in this offense, your expectations would be too high.
I do wish he would do more back strokes into the end zone, though.

With Meachem gone, he pretty much has that title locked down.

I hear Toon is a good blocker.

He's our most explosive punt returner.
Bar none.
And his military cadences really get the players pumped before games.
It's really a shame the fans don't respect him.

If Morgan stays healthy - probably
If Morgan doesn't stay healthy or doesn't show the speed he did last season.. probably not.

Of Devery's 20 Regular Season TDs, 11 have been 30 or more yards, 4 were between 20 and 29 yards, 4 between 10 and 19, and 1 between 4 and 9.
So 55% over 30 yards, 20% each 10-19 and 20-29, and 5% under 10 yards, with an average of 39.6 yards per touchdown.
His 4 Playoff TDs were 44, 9, 6, and 41 yards, for an average of 25 yards per TD.

Well he's used a lot to run off coverage. Teams rather not give up the deep ball against us. He's pretty unselfish in the fact that he'll run full speed knowing that he won't get the ball.

I really didn't have a lot of expectation for Devery coming out of LSU besides just being a deep threat. That coupled with the way he always caught the ball with his body didn't make me think he was worth a second rounder.
But after a few years with Curtis Johnson, Devery has turned into a really nice wideout.

Again, I really hope we keep him. But our WR corps is becoming crowded.
