Wow, to do this as only a sophomore after your last decision was a SEASON-ENDING LOSS to STONY BROOK. Selfish.

It'll be interesting to see how his career stacks up vs. Ben McDonald's. Whether due to injury, cold climate in early season, or whatever, Big Ben did not have a very stellar pro career. And quite frankly, if I were LSU coach, in the clutch, in a regional (or super regional which came after Big Ben had left LSU), if I had to give the ball to either for that one must win, it would be Big Ben McDonald. But here's hoping Gausman has a great career.

I wanted him to come back for selfish reasons... But I am glad he signed... Would have felt terrible if I did not work out for him

Oh, sorry, it was actually the game BEFORE the season-ending loss. That's right, he set the table for our least reliable starter to end the season. He OWED it to us to come back.

He gave up 3 runs, not 30.
Just stupid.

Still... it's the same thing with Randle, Claiborne and Brockers - they don't have the hunger to finish what they started and, dare I say, "restore order."

happy for Gausman. did he manage a better deal by holding out till the end? I dont think his stock would have gone up much playing for LSU one more year.

This was nothing more than negotiating leverage......
