Are my Mavs officially the suck?

Life events prevented me from following the NBA much this year, but losing Kidd/Terry plus getting a year older...it appears my Mavs are headed for mediocrity/badness.

Thia all happened when Cubes and Donnie went "all-in" on FAs this summer. Not re-signing Chandler is looking like a massive mistake, and at best it looked like a huge gamble even when the decision was made.
Once DWill decided to go elsewhere, there's nothing to blame about the actual decisions the mavs have made.
They haven't kneejerked into overspending on guys that weren't going to get them to the top. And they didn't get overly sentimental and overpay for their guys in Terry and Kidd.
The real problem is that Dirk is still too good to let them Suck terribly so they're going to hang out in Rockets/Suns mediocre land aka NBA HELL.
Once DWill decided to go elsewhere, there's nothing to blame about the actual decisions the mavs have made.

I am a huge Mavs fan and have accepted that we are going to suck big time next year. I feel bad for Dirk who has done everything for that franchise only to get shite on this past year and the upcoming year.
Can you imagine if Cuban had supplied Dirk with a legitimate #2 superstar like so many other teams are doing these days?

what I can't wrap my head around is that the Donnie and Cuban continue to harp on the idea of "flexibility" in the roster when what they've really done is hamstring themselves.
There are 3 ways to acquire players in the NBA. Draft/Trade/FA
By shedding salary to compete in the FA pool the Mavs have rendered themselves without a single valuable trade piece. They still have Dirk which is probably going to keep them out of the running for a top 5-10 pick. All of that has left them at the mercy of the handful of attractive free agents every year.
I just can't make any real sense of what they've done.

There arent very many other options out there. Right now you have

Beaubouis
Dominique Jones
Haywood
Vincanity

I see no way that any signings left available get them into the top 5 in the West. Mavs are in deep trouble and with the position they are in they will be playing for "next years free agency" for the rest of Dirks career. Sucks for him. And sucks for us Mavs fans. Shouldve made an attempt to defend the title and hold on to the ONLY center the franchise has ever had.

Who could be dumped that make the Mavs a top 5 team? Elton Brand? Im asking against all hope that you have a good answer. I would love for them to be a top 5 seed. Right now, I dont see them making the playoffs.

All I gotta say is they better bring back Brian Cardinal, bc if they are going to suck, it would be nice to have some entertainment.
