Tyler Hansborough was the Tim Tebow of college hoops during his run at UNC.
Dickie V loved Hansborough for his "hustle" and "hard work." That massive bloody face he got against Dook solidified Vitale's love for him.
The quotations should be read as, "It always looked like Hansborough was always hustling and working harder than other, because he's pasty."
ETA: Not to mention, Hansborough was always made out to be the best player on those UNC teams, despite the fact that Danny Green and Ty Lawson carried those teams in almost as many games as Psycho T.

You said it yourself, it's his 50 players from his time at ESPN. Why would you expect those guys to make the list when he probably didn't do many of their games? And there are some legends on that list of Duke players.
But the answer to this question is easily Battier. He stands for everything Dickie V loves.

I just meant...since he's been covering the sport.
It's a list of the Top 50 players in College Basketball since 1980.
He covers college basketball, he should be more well rounded than Duke-centric.

It's Dickie V, you can't expect him to be an unbiased source. He's an announcer, basically an ESPN character. He loves him some east coast basketball, specifically the ACC, specifically UNC and Duke. But mainly Duke.

Redick, Hansbrough, and Morrison (that's Adam Morrison, by the way. He was a collegiate star at Gonzaga, who went on to be drafted #3 overall by the Bobcats. His current whereabouts are unknown.).

Well Laettner, Hill, J Will, Battier, and Hurley DID happen to win championships at Duke. IDK how you would dispute any of them. Laettner is one of the greatest college players of all time, and the rest all won national player of the year. Hurley is the NCAA all time assist leader. Which part is unfair again?

All time scoring leaders in the ACC:
1. Hansbrough
2. Redick
4. Dawkins
7. Laettner
Laettner also started in four consecutive Final Fours. He's well deserving of being ranked #2 in COLLEGE BASKETBALL.
I don't see the problem with the list either.

My God he was all about some Hurley back in the day. You could probably put half of that '92 team on his list of slurpage.
That said, when it comes to coaches he loves him some Rick Pitino too. And has had his fair share of UK love at one time or another. But it's nothing in comparison to his hard on for Duke.
