Basically every team in the lottery will go BPA, regardless of position, unless you have a franchise PG. You cant play two 6 foot PGs together.
Chris Paul and Darren Collison say hello.

Darren Collison wasnt a lottery pick...
And those guys can't play defense together, thats the point. They're obviously fine on the offensive end

There are some potential Hardens in the 2012 Draft. Brad Beal sticks out, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist could actually do the trick from a slightly different angle. Harrison Barnes, though, is my dark horse Harden candidate.
I think my head just exploded.

Bad. Barnes is like the anti-Harden. Only does one thing well.
It wasn't hard to 'find' Harden because he was awesome in college. He did everything at a high level, if there was a Harden in this draft he'd be going #2, no question about it.

Agree that Harden was awesome in college- Ziller mentions it in his article.
When he offers examples I don't think he means a guy who will play like Harden- I don't see a playmaker like Harden in this draft- but a guy who is able to impact games as a 6th man.
Barnes is a very dark horse to fill that role. But I do think his best role will be coming off the bench to score. If a team drafts him looking for a savior they will be disappointed

Yeah, but even Barnes coming off the bench you need a play-making PG to get him open shots. The great thing about Harden is that he's the slasher, shooter, ball handler, and distributor off the bench. Lillard would be a guy I could see playing that role early in his career, like a much better version of Lou Williams. Austin Rivers is another guy that seems destined for the Harden/LouWill/Crawford combo guard off the bench role.

I agree as well
However, I dont think Harden should be grouped into that Lou Williams/Crawford type mold. Harden could easily start for OKC and most teams in the league. He's obviously better than Sefolosha, and doesnt start because its a strategy that Brooks has decided to employ.
I dont think teams should be in the lottery looking for great 6th men. Almost every team could have a Harden-type(not necessarily as good) situation if they decided to have one of their best players come off the bench.
Like you said, its not like he was some kind of diamond in the rough that OKC found. He was great in HS, college, and is now coming into his own after struggling for a few years

But to peg him as the concrete 3rd option is well...incorrect.
no it isn't...Durant and Westbrook both take twice as many shots per game as Harden
