I agree- no fans will be mad once the deal is done; but, as the Mr. New Orleans image lessens (holding out for more than a bazillion) then the saints will have some public sentiment on their side of the bargaining table.

Did the Saints reveal their offer. They can throw self-serving platitudes ala "Our deal will make him the highest paid QB in league history" around like frizbees, but unless one of you has seen the numbers on Saints stationary, it's all hypothetical.
I know I'm not liked around here by some "Hey Meateye, whazup buddy." hence the infrequent posting, but For rice cakes, I am glad that Drew is making some waves to turn the heat up. Did Brees mention numbers. Of course not, nor will he ever. Like some fans, he's sick of every talking head and ex-jock throwing bullshite around. He's trying to convey what's really happening, or more aptly, what's not happening.
Why don't we give the guy the benefit of the doubt. He's frustrated and I take him at his word when he says that his attempts to communicate have been ignored.
Did no one else appreciate the fact (as he pointed out) that he played out the final year of his contract as significant risk knowing that should he suffer a major injury, he was guaranteed nothing.
It is nut-cutting time. Imagine OTA's without Drew.
How concerned about his image can he really be if he's willing to risk raising the hackles of legendary fans like P O'Rly by venting his feelings for all ST'ers to hear.
Just maybe Drew Brees is who we all thought he was. You know, pretty much The Franchise.

Drew Brees will learn pretty quickly that this is a Saints town not a Drew Brees town. We love Drew but players come and go. Drew can try and get fans concerned for now but if this goes into training camp and he hasn't signed the tag or a new contract the fans will side with the Saints. I think he knows that, which is why he is choosing to get the fans all riled up now, while most are still on his side

There would be a borderline Riot if they let Drew walk away. You're delusional otherwise.

Congrats on playing out the terms of your contract like you're supposed to do.

Not going to happen. Eventually the Saints offer will be made public and fans will see they offered to make him the highest paid player in the league. How can we ask the team to do any more than that

Yep, this is a Saints town. But anyone who thinks we will accept mediocrity as readily as we did when that's all we knew, is deceiving themselves.
Ask any Red Sox fan. Once you've been to the top, it blows to be right back in the middle of the pack again.
If Drew Goes, can Payton be far behind?

Again, what numbers do you have to back that up?
This is a "We said, he said," negotiation, except the only party that's throwing these phrases around is the Club. Brees refuses to discuss figures in the press.
And BTW, Tom Benson was ready to ditch his beloved hometown and move this franchise to San Antonio after Katrina, Trust me, I live there and The threat was real. Ask Buck Harvey, Sports editor of the San Antonio Express News. This is the honorable guy you're putting your faith in.

Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any of your crazy shite with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your arse and pull the fricking trigger til it goes click.

I want him signed as much as anyone else, but this is all negotiating tactics and its fricking annoying. It will get done though.
Also, this +10000:

Even if this thing got uglier before it got done, Once 9 is on the field shredding bitches and getting wins, no one will give a good days frick about the way the contract negotiations went.

For a second I was like "Oh no he didn't" until I realize just what you were quoting.

Yeah. The same movie you quoted. Bet that was confusing.
