Venice/Empire Fishing Lodges?

Trying to decide between two days in Empire with Ryan Lambert's operation with Cajun Fishing Adventures OR two days at Saltgrass. Trip is in late May. Anybody taken any trips with these outfits? Other recommendations?

Reel Shot Guide Service/Capt Brandon Carter. He has a lodge, and also has Capt Jeff Fuscia as his partner if you need a large group outing. Brandon likes to target LARGE trout, while Jeff is more of a typical inshore guide. They also use Capt Dan Dix if needed. I believe the website is reelshot.com, but not sure. You can access it via rodnreel.com under the fishing guides tab.

I stayed at the lodge for Cajun Adventures and it was really nice. Can't comment on their fish guiding service because I never tried it though.
There is another guide in Venice that has his own lodge although smaller than the ones you mentioned. It's Called Reel Tite Fishing charters. Reeltite.com

Saltgrassoutdoors would be my choice.
Brandon and Jeff are no longer partners. Brandon is now in my old camp. Brandon and Jeff are good options also though.

I did not know that...thanks for the info. I haven't fished down there in a couple years...prolly 3. I've never fished with Jeff, but fished with Brandon a few times.

Been about five times, both pre-Kartina and post Katrina. Don't see a reason to look elsewhere. Really nice place and one of the guides is a customer of mine.

You need to post more here.

Really nice lodge, major $$$, very average guide (the two times I went).
I would give Capt. Ron Price a look. Log Cabin lodges are beautiful, and he works his arse off.
Fish Intimidator
I've fished with Brandon Carter, Dan Dix, Brent Roy, and the Bally boys. Brandon is who I would go with if Ron wasn't available. Ron is by far the most patient of any of the guides I ever took my boys with, and he catches fish. Can handle up to at least 14 out of his lodges.

Thanks very much. I've fished with Lambert as well as with Dan Dix a few times. Dan Dix is a phenomenally nice Christian gentleman, but I think he has an unhealthy obsession with Redfish. Sometimes I wonder how hard he tries to find trout? Go to Rodnreel.com and search his reports. Pretty much all reds.

Lately they've all been hitting the reds, as trout have been in transition, AND they were battling a high river. Dan is a really nice guy, but for whatever reason, he seemed to lose patience with my two boys the last time I went with him (granted they were younger and very active), and they are pretty accomplished fishermen for teenagers. Ron has kids only a little younger than mine, so that might help. And if you are lucky, he will bring his wife as deckhand when you go.

THIS. He kinda bit my girlfriend once when I took her with him. She never wanted to go again because she thought there was too much pressure involved.
Maybe worthy of a new thread at some point, but I've chartered a dozen or so inshore trips and I've never stayed on the water past 11. I realize that tides, bites turn on and off, but I'd really love to get a days worth for my money.

Saltgrass lodge and fished with Voodoo Sportfishing. Both get A+ from me.
