I think an even bigger contributing factor to our collapse than not getting Pence last year (even though Bourn is better when you factor in defense) is the fact that our bullpen was dead.

That was the #1 factor. Fredi rode O'Ventbrel to death and Venters and Kimbrel were both 5 innings away from TJ surgery by the end of the year.
Unless Pence was going to come in and improve our offense by 2 or 3 runs per game, he wouldn't have saved us from our ultimate fate.

I think this team has plenty of talent to be pretty good but when your manager is constantly negating anything positive with his incompetence, it's hard to keep any momentum. Plus it seems like we never have three or four hitters who are hot at the same time.

McCann can't play four days in a row. He's out tomorrow. Constanza will get a start as well so Fredi can get a look at him in the field.

I'm sure Walker and Fletcher are good in the locker room, but why isn't Pendleton the hitting coach? I seem to remember that our offense was solid under him.
