I saw the hopper page.... You can record 2 channels of your choice plus UP TO 4 of ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX during primetime only (3 hrs/night). That is some bullshite, very inferior to direct. It does have more memory (2tb).

More/Better quality HD Channnels than Dish. I like the DVR functionality better than the one I had with Dish. Better customer service than Dish.

I've had Eatel and Cox in the past and never experienced Dish. DirecTV is better. Cheaper and more HD channels. I've had it since Feb 2011 and only lost satellite feed 3xs due to extremely bad weather and then it was for only a few minutes. Customer service is pretty good to. I've only had one technical issue (my fault) and they solved it within minutes.

Directv is the second best option behind ATT UVerse.
Dumped Uverse quick for DTV, Uverse has the worst DVR system period. It sucked so bad. DTV, I have 50 episodes of one show, then 25 of another, then maybe another 30 movies on it, and only two are in danger of being deleted. Also Uverse would delete the DVR when it reset. DTV is the way to go...except when it rains.

Huh, I thought UVerse had by far the best DVR service.

I would put it behind COX and DTV for sure. I liked the guide for Uverse and how fast you could change the channels. But the DVR was the reason I went back to DTV.

It all depends on what your TV interests are and what area you live in. If you live in New Orleans, Dish is the way to go because of Cox Sports being on there. If you like movies more than sports, Dish is the way to go. If you like sports more than movies and the amount of HD channels you have, Directv is the way to go. Dish is weak on sports because they don't have MLB Extra Innings or NFL Sunday Ticket, plus they don't have many Regional Sports Networks (MSG, Sportsnet New York) due to constant disputes over pricing. Dish is not afraid to pull the plug on a channel and won't relent from it unless it favors them. Directv is weaker on movie channels by a few but they blow every other provider out of the water on sports channels and packages. About pricing, you gotta know how to play the game with CSRs and always go to retentions about your problems. Retentions will bend over backwards and kiss your arse just to keep you happy. I never paid more than $50 a year for Sunday Ticket. A beautiful thing I find about about having satellite is the option to "move" your service address and get local TV stations from another area, which helps when you only have 3 local TV stations in your area. Anyone on here ever "moved" before?

During an important LSU baseball series a year or two ago I "moved" to Baton Rouge so I could watch the LSU game on the local channel. Now that I can get the games streaming (Thanks LSUbaseball) I don't have to "move" again.

A lot of conflicting info in this thread. This isn't making my DirecTV decision any easier

DTV is great! I have the new DVR that records 5 things at the same Time. It's legit.
