Tigerbait had an article with his dad today. Guy seemed reasonable basically said they're going to wait and see what happens. Can't really blame him if he leaves for WKU or Murray.

Won't he have to sit out a year?

When it was rumored the story said he'd file a hardship waiver. It's not like he's on a fasttrack to the NBA so he could be willing to sit the year.

I doubt he would get a hardship waiver, fwiw.

Supposedly has a kid in Kentucky, which could be the basis for a waiver. Not sure of the validity.

So many athletes have kids though. I've only heard about waivers being given for family illness and things like that. If his kid is very sick, that's a completely different thing though.
Fwiw, Trey Zeigler's hardship waiver was denied recently, although was not related to children.

Right now Alleva is in charge of the program and I sure he told hickey to sit tight. If the new coach is not to hickey's liking then the new coach can grant his release. No way Alleva releases hickey right now before the new coach is hired.

Any player who is thinking more about himself than LSU can kiss my arse and go. And that's the name of that tune.

Link?
As of late last night, Zeigler was optimistic he'd get one.

he shouldn't be granted a waiver and I doubt it will. That would be fricking ridiculous to do it.

I read that yesterday.
According to Ernie and Trey, they're optimistic they'll get the waiver.
Classic ESPN misreporting.
Ernie went on to say it would be unfair to Trey to have to play at a school that fired him.

It is unclear at the moment whether Zeigler will be eligible next season or in 2013-14. He applied to the NCAA for a special waiver because he played for his father.

I understand you're a Pitt fan but it'd be outrageous for that waiver to be granted. Sit out the year...
