re: Beer snobs

I use to drink that stuff, and then I had Yuengling. It's like a dollar more expensive, but it's SOOOOOO worth it. I can't even drink bud light type beers even if I wanted to. They give me really bad heart burn.

ETA: Like others have said, it's not about price. It's about quality/taste. I would always have Pabst Blue Ribbon in my fridge if it didn't make me feel like shite the next day.

Funny story: I stopped at a 7/11 to get some beer and this guy out front was asking for money. I told him I don't give money to strangers and he says "Oh come on man, I just got out of jail and" blah blah blah. Again I tell him I don't give money to strangers. He keeps rambling on. I had to put my hand up to back him off. "Dude, I told you no already" I said. I started to walk away and he mumbles some shite under his voice. This pissed me off and I said "What did you say?" "Excuse my ignorance."

Anyway I came out with some Yuengling and he says "Oh yeah that's what I was trying to get." I decided to just give him a beer. Why the frick not? He looks at it and he goes "Is this a Guinness?"

re: Beer snobs

Friends don't let friends drink piss.

All joking aside, there is all different kinds of beer I just won't drink under any circumstance. However, I won't criticize an individual that drinks something I won't.

Because some people need to tell you that you don't know that your beer tastes like shite because you don't know any better.

Gimme a budweiser

Why do people have to put down people that drink bud light or the other cheap beers like that.I have been around people that put other guys down because they like more expensive beer because they have more money and i dont get it.

I'm a beer snob, in the sense that i won't drink bud light, budweiser, coors, etc...

But i do not put down people who drink it. Drink what makes you happy. But, i will try to get my friends to try craft beers when i can. I try to convert them, but never condemn them.

and whatever jackass is putting down on someone for drinking bud light or something like that, will find himself outnumbered down here in the south. Not really a smart move.

The craft beer scene in the south isn't as prevalent as other states, but in the past 10 years, i've seen a change for the better. More and more bars open up to sell craft beers, such as the bulldog, the cover, etc...

This. Here in The Chuck the only craft beer available in the early 90's was Sam Adams, when Albertsons opened up. I was excited and tried some. It sucked but I think it was old. Lets face it Lake Chuck definately wasn't a place that embraced craft brews and I think the Sam Adams just sat around on the shelf too long.In the early 90's I attended a wedding in The Hill country and had Shiner on tap. It was unbelievably good. one of those moments when you realize there is a different way of doing it. Now craft beers are much more available even here in the Chuck. Why not try these and expand your tastes? Most 750 ml bottles are around $10 so its really not a cost issue, pick up one a week and try it.I still enjoy domestics especially in our hot weather.

It's a good, everyday beer. That's it. It's nothing special.

Envy, just saw your canebreak question...no, it's not here yet. Won't be until the new brewery opens up and then we'll have to wait for the LC distributors to get off their butts and get it.

Also, I hate this argument. I drink craft and my brother and dad always give me shite for it. Always. Until I sat my brother's big arse down at Avenue pub and made him drink anything new. That bastard was drinking a Duchesse, on my tab btw, and kept ordering them and Kentuck Bourbon Aged Ale. I give him a year and then I'll only be catching shite from my dad.

This.

I am absolutely a beer snob. I enjoy the taste of different styles and I don't drink beer just to drink. I want to enjoy it.

Its also the same reason I don't eat burger's from McDonalds

exactly; i don't drink to get drunk. i drink because i really like different kinds of beer. between my frig and beer closet, i've easily got 20-25 different beers around the house.

i don't understand people that will only drink one beer. if i had to drink the same beer everyday for the rest of my life...i might give up drinking...well, probably not... ...but it would suck...

I like to think of myself as much of a gourmand as anyone on this board (yeah, there's a few who likely eclipse me, see coolpapabooze), but I'll happily indulge in McDonalds on occasion. Although, there's fast food joints I definitely don't like, as there are fine dining establishments I don't prefer.

Same holds true for my beer tastes.

I'm always amused by those who think these discussions should be so black/white.

I don't even try to convert people anymore, at least to the point of trying to talk them into trying new stuff.
Now, if I'm drinking a beer and someone is curious and asks about it, I'd be glad to tell them about m beer, and I'd they'd like to try something new I'm glad to help them find something they might enjoy
