I'm lucky, we have a pasture that is over 7000 ft. long. It ends with a fairly significant spoil bank levee, so for now we're good.

Once I figure out how far I really want to try, I'm toying with the idea of having a number of loads dropped off at 1000, maybe 1500 yards to construct a proper backstop....as to not to have to rely on the what if someone is illegally crossing beyond my ability to see.

Funny, about 10 years ago, I built a backstop at 400 yards. I thought it was MILES away at that time.

I have a friend with a .50 cal. Lots of fun lining stuff up on the range and seeing just how much crap those rounds can actually shoot through and penetrate.

Not much you can hide behind that will stop those rounds.

You can get a couple models of Savage rifles chambered in .338 Lapua for around $1,400. I am considering doing this if I can convince the Mrs that it is necessary...

Whenever you want- you and Big'Un need to make a trip and shoot it. I would like to say I could get rid of all my other guns now, but.....Nah.

I'll pick up downshift and slick. We will bring $20 apiece for 3 shots

It's heavy and long (about five and a half feet) so if you get one, don't plan on trying to hold up a Circle K with it.

And they are sweet- 110 B.A. The cool thing is that the Lapua rounds have come down significantly in price...at the start, they were nearly $10/round. Now, there's good stuff for $3!
