This is also not the same college baseball environment either. The competition is WAY better than it was when Skip was coach. Skip was great, but he wouldn't dominate now the way he did.

LSU baseball has been mediocre more than its been stellar under CPM. He's never been a great game manager but now it could be argued he's a poor evaluator of talent.
Football aside, this is not the golden age of Tiger athletics as both the basketball and baseball teams are in decline.
We consider ourselves to be an unique athletic department but there are a number of SEC schools who we traditionally looked down upon who have surpassed us in recent years.

This thread is funny

I think someone else mentioned this...
LSU HR total on year = 10
Florida HR total on year = 37
IMO this speaks volumes. Other top SEC teams still have the hitters...LSU doesn't. It can be done, but whether it be coaching or lack of talent...LSU isn't where it use to be. Claiming it can't be done anymore is false IMO as shown by Florida's ability to hit. I love LSU baseball but this year doesn't look promising.

LSU coaches cannot evaluate hitters.
I would just like to point out that the coaches are big enough dumbasses that a couple of years they cut our best hitter Rhymes and thats why he went to LSUE. How anyone has faith in this coaching staff in finding hitters is beyond me.

Yeah, man, those Zuniga's, Tuckers, and Fontana's grow on trees. Hell, every team has a catcher with power and speed that will be a high MLB draftee, and at least 3-4 guys capable of hitting 10-15 HR's a season these days.....

Has LSU hit into a record number of ground outs to short/2nd and into double plays? If not a record yet, it's gotta be damn close.

I think you missed his very valid point. Why can't we recruit those guys at LSU? Everyone keeps referencing the baseball draft as if LSU is the only school that is affected by it. How do schools like Florida and South Carolina handle it and we don't? In a word...better head coaches.

Why do our hitters look like horse jockeys? Bring back the gorillaz.

And on that same note, why is it that the company line for hitting woes at LSU is, "well when they changed the bats..."
Doesn't seem to affect other teams to the extent it supposedly does at LSU.

I really don't care to get into hitting, recruiting, assistant coaches, talent evaluation etc. All I care about is winning, and LSU fielding a consistent winner.
LSU is, without question, a Top5 Baseball program. It is unacceptable to have 3 consecutive seasons of mediocre/inconsistent play. Losing 2/3 at Auburn, in and of itself, is not really that big a deal ... but that series merely highlights the fears that most of us have that 2012 will be no different than the last two seasons.
I'll stick with the team the rest of this way, and there is indeed a long way to go in the 2012 season, but if this season ends up similar to the last two seasons, there is no question IMO that something has to change.

Yesterday was another example of poor coaching. But I've become used to poor coaching from 3rd base sending runners when they should be held up. This is the first area that needs to be fixed.

We need to find a way to go at least 3-3 in these next 6 games vs ark/fla....

the poor coaching originates from the dugout. Mainieri is either a half assed baseball mind or he doesn't give a frick. Putting Katz in center was laughable.

now you know what the expense is of becoming like the rest of the schools. Building new bigger and better ballparks. Making stadiums look like everyone else's stadiums. Putting crappy music in the stadium because other stadiums are doing it... you can see the cost of becoming like everyone else. Tiger Stadium is gone and so is the Box. Now is all happy?

We aren't very good.
The fact that we have this good of pitching and we'll probably be a bubble team for the NCAA Tournament again is a joke.
CPM only did half of what he should have after last season. He shipped off Grewe and brought in a top notch pitching coach. You see the results. He should have made a clean sweep and hired an experienced hitting coach coach as well. Javi-Que just aint cuttin the mustard.

This season is not over but with road series in Florida, Kentucky, and South Carolina, you can add another 9 losses right there.
