For sure. But Roger Goodell is judge, jury and executioner in the NFL, which makes Payton's decision to tell him to frick off even more baffling.

This. He knew the rules and chose to thumb his nose at Goodell.

Like they always say, "It's not the crime, it's the cover-up."

SInce Payton will be a fan this year like us... think he will host a few kick-arse Saints parties at his new digs? IM there!

We still go 10-6 and make the playoffs. This team has some great leadership in place. Brees gets at least 8 wins by himself. Spags is good for a few more.

If we can avoid injuries, this team can play with a little extra motivation.

I doubt it. He may not have any money left. if you knew you had 8 million coming in the next year you might spend the money you already had and plan on saving the 8 million....who knows what he did?

Hmmm... possible that SP leaves the NFL and goes to the college level. That is certainly what I would do if I was Williams. I wouldn't be paying no fine either. How can you suspend someone indefinitely and expect them to pay a fine?

Not having a pick till the 3rd round we have to fill our pieces via FA I feel, since you can't hit on too many players from the 3rd on to slide in as starters.

Meanwhile in the NHL, guys are losing teeth, throwing full contact punches, all out brawls for half of every single f'ing game. How has the NFL evolved to a "non-violent, full contact" sport and the NHL has nothing?

Any chance that he can try to appeal this for a lesser sentence?
