I think giving a place at least 7-10 chances is more than enough.

Although I really enjoy the food at Luke and I LOVE the happy hour oyster special, I can't ignore their horrible service any longer.

I have yet to have anything better than terrible service every single time I've been there.

Last night we stopped in for a couple of burgers. We sat at the end of the bar and were ignored for at least 15 minutes while those working behind the bar chatted it up with each other and watched TV.

We finally had to go ask someone to come take our order.

Our order was taken and the bar still had not been wiped from the people sitting there before us.

We order 2 burgers and a 1/4 carafe of malbec and a beer.

While waiting for our food, someone finally comes and lays a towel on the bar for us to eat on. This is laid on top of the crumbs already on the bar from the previous diners. One of our towels was dirty and full of oyster grit and juice.

Our drinks come. I get my wine with a standard bar glass that water is put into. I'm not kidding. We waited forever and no one came back, so my boyfriend had to walk to the end of the bar and specially ask someone to bring us a wine glass.

If this were an isolated incident, I could blow it off...but I've gotten similar service on every single visit to this place.

And it's not like the food is cheap.

For 2 burgers, 2 beers and a 1/4 carafe of malbec, with tax and tip, our bill was $75!

Never again.

It is what it is. The purpose of the board it to share good and bad experiences. I think both are valuable and wish others would realize that. I hope the previous flaming doesn't stop you from reporting your bad experiences.

Isolated incident.. yeah give them another shot. But you've been several times and still have yet to receive proper service? 86 the place.

Bad service will ruin the best meals. I have been getting lucky lately.
I still have never had Luke, but this isn't the first I've heard of bad service there.

I had the same crap happen to me the one and only time i've been there. everyone said it was an off night. But, the service was beyond terrible... bartenders sucked beyond belief. Glad to know i wasn't imagining things.
Was probably the same girl and guy combo that was there the night i went. Biggest problem i had was that it was like that at the table as well and the back part wasn't even packed. I couldve had a great experience even though the bartenders seemed to be all uppity and shite, if my waitress wouldve been worth a damn. I live on the coast i deal with enough uppity shite from all these ole miss people down here, don't need it when i'm paying for good food. All this being said while i'm eating crappy hospital gumbo

Yes. I've been at least 7 times, but probably more like 10 and not one single time have I gotten good service. Not every single visit was this bad, but not one single one was good.

The first time that I went I had the burger and loved it and the service was HORRIBLE.

Other times, I kept going back because the oyster special is so good. Last night, we were at Wednesdays in the Square and my boyfriend wanted a good burger...so it was a logical choice.

But good oysters or not, I'll never go again.

If you feel the food is good then I think you should at least send this to the restaurant or the John Besh email (info@chefjohnbesh.com). If the food was terrible, I'd say forget it all but since it is a service issue that can be easily fixed with better management I'd send them a letter.

It doesn't change the point that the service sucks.
At a place like this, you shouldn't have to act like you are at an Apple B's by chasing down your service folks.

Write John Besh a letter. That will fix it.

So, by staring them in the eyes as they walk by and as soon as i go to say give me a..... they turn away. So, i try to credit card in my hand... it doesn't work. I finally literally hollered at the bitch working and she acted like it was a chore to get a glass of wine and tap beer. I watched as 2 couples waited over 15min to check out from their bar tab with food included. I know this because this cause i waited longer than they did for a drink. You shouldn't have to holler at people at an upscale place for service, thats why your overpay for shite and are okay with it... Its part of the package, afterall its a "service industry".
