It's this weekend. Never been or heard of it, but, I think I will head out there this weekend. Anybody ever heard of it, or, been to it?

Tx needs to keep their "we're bigger and better and whatever" attitudes out of La stuff. They claim all their BBQ is better than everywhere else I have a different opinion). They stole the mexican food idea. Now they gotta try to do Cajun food.

I have no idea. I am probably going to go anyway.

I looked at their website and it says they will have contests for:

Entry categories:
-Gumbo
-Jambalaya
-Open (anything Cajun)
-Bloody Mary
-Showmanship

I have no idea how much you will get to eat or drink. I will probably bring a cooler and some lawn chairs just in case.

That's like saying the cajuns stole their food from the french. Tex-mex evolved out of the mishmash of mexican and anglo cultures.

Just talked to the chick in charge, seems cool as hell. I'm going cook some jambo and gumbo. If you make it down, come say hello. The music is supposed to be awesome, and I'll be happy to feed you and your crew whatever you want for the day

Your Texas dick envy is showing

Nobody that I know here has ever claimed to make better Cajun food than they find in Louisiana. Hell, damn near everyone I know feels like the best thing about Louisiana is the food

Doesn't mean they can't have a party and cook up a shitload of food

Hopefully the weather turns out to be OK. Last I heard there will be thunderstorms throughout the day.

I'm sure you will see me somewhere if I'm out there. I will more than likely be wearing something Purple/Gold/LSU. It's usually the case.

Exactly. Best Louisiana food is in Louisiana. But Texas has some decent places that get it close enough for me. Texas has a lot better cajun places than Louisiana has tex-mex.

Wish I were close cause I would load up and go cook in the jamb contest. I love competition cook offs. Sounds like a good time.

It only makes sense, with the number of transplants from Louisiana that we have here

That's one of the things that makes Texas great, the wide variety of culture and cuisine I can find

Not looking like the weather tomorrow will allow for an enjoyable event. :(

They said that they are still going to have it rain or shine. But, 40 degree rain/thunderstorms is a bit much for me to enjoy myself.
