Can't make it to the camp this weekend and I have a couple of new rigs I'd like to wet a few times. Any suggestions on a public pond/lake around BR?

We had a great thread on this and a fishing map, but the lurkers trashed all the spots and it had to be destroyed

Just got overrun, some people were leaving trash and keeping fish and so people were getting kicked out of ponds and stuff.

Some of them we used to sneak to, we'd get one or two casts a piece and that was it!

What about out at the Burbank soccer fields. I thought they stocked that pond with trout. Everytime I go out there for soccer, there are always a few people fishing.

BREC park at Perkins and Kenilworth stock trout annually. There is even a sign that reads that there is a two trout limit.

The only one I fish at is right behind my GF's house, it's pretty stocked! But I'm not going to tell you where its at

Other than that, I have no idea where you can go, maybe off of essen behind the Louisiana state archives??

You can fish the LSU lakes. Used to a few years ago while I was I'm school. Put a few 1-2lbers in my aquarium

Lots of ponds out there, but not many public ones. Sucks.

Waddill on North Flannery. All I can recommend is that it's public and they have a groundkeeper onsite.

Try the BREC Blackwater Conservation Area

Map of Blackwater Conservation Area

I don't know anyone who has fished it lately, but know it holds some decent fish.

I'm gonna try the Mississippi river or amite tomorrow, been watching river monsters

Fish on!

Eta: I've fished blackwater a few times, nice walking trails, but no fish. I think it's overrun with duck weed(not sure what it's called) thick green plant/weed that grows just below surface.

Went to RAMAH yesterday, didn't have much luck from the banks. caught some nice size Brim.

However..... I'm gonna go back with bigger gear and try to land a huge Alligator Gar. Those things were everywhere and should be a good fight.

Looks like a good spot for kayak fishing. Fish the ponds and then put in on the Comite.
