Per the father of a current player on the team.

As the story is beginning to be told to me, Of course I'm thinking in my mind "Oh great, here comes some more bad news/rumors/Miles gripes"...But, to my surprise, he said that the players recently all had individual meetings with Miles and that a number of the players had been a little "down" about the loss to Bama, but those same players came out of those one-on-one meetings with Miles busting at the seams and pumped up for the 2012 season. (for those that don't know, one-on-one meetings with the HC don't happen that often for most players).

Again, nothing significant here, but it was a piece of good news that made me smile.

That's nice. But let's see if the season and post-season performance in 2012 by players and coaches will match or exceed the reported enthusiasm from this set of meetings, and then we'll really have something.

But good news is still better than bad news. Thanks.

Good news.

My question is could he have scheduled these one on ones in the 37 days leading up to the biggest day of their lives.

What do people expect? For them to come out of the meeting with doom and gloom on their minds.

Thanks for the info however. Hopefully this implosion will lead to some quality changes.

The biggest worry I had about this offseason for the program wasn't recruiting, but, how soon we would be able to completely overcome the hangover of the Jan. 9 game. I was worried that even once our players got over the loss, the morale and aura in and around the program would still have a negative feel to it.

This, to me, is actually quite significant, to know that Jan. 9 is behind us, and we are moving forward toward next year with some type of positive to get us in the right state of mind to begin building towards next season.

What do you mean? All the players hate Miles and think he sucks and doesn't play the right QB and overrides his OC and ruins LSU FOOTBALL AND THAT'S WHY WE"VE BEEN SO TERRIBLE FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS!!!!

So you're telling me they all didn't meet with Miles to tell him the were transferring? Or maybe they had a meeting to pick QB sides for the future so they will know who to fight in the locker room next year. It has to be one of these 2 according to all the emails and facebook statuses going around.

You said the one on one meetings with Les Miles don't happen very often. You sure about that? I knew 2 people on 2 different teams (neither football players) at LSU and both had what they called "exit meetings" at the end of every year with their head coaches. Kind of a wrap up and let you know if you acieved what they wanted out of you or if you need to step it up in certain areas and give you plans for off season workouts and stuff.

Not that it matters, but I figured football players would be no exception. Either way, it was hard to see such a great season end like that, but it was still a great overall season and I am very positive for next year.

This was a good season that could have been really special. I am sure the players knew the coaches did not give them a fighting chance to close out the season making history. What else can you do? You have to move forward. No more JJ.

Motivating a player is important, coaching on the sideline and making correct decision equally important

Les's greatest coaching challenge will be the upcoming season- I just hope he knows he cannot rest on the laurels of the 13 wins this year

Thanks for the encouragement. The 2012 team will enter the season needing to prove something to themselves and TigerNation will benefit!
