"But we felt like with the pressure we were getting from their defense, we needed a guy who could move his feet." - Les Miles
Jordan Jefferson was sacked 14 times in 100 pass attempts this season. He took a sack on 14% of his pass attempts.
Jarrett Lee was sacked 4 times in 167 pass attempts this season. He took a sack on 2.4% of his pass attempts.
For Miles to make this statement after the game he is either flat out lying or he does not know his personnel very well.
If their was so much pressure wouldn't you go to the guy who can read the D quicker, has a quicker delivery, throws down-field and takes way less sacks?
LOL at all you idiots that think Lee throws the ball up for grabs more than Jefferson:
Jordan Jefferson has 2 interceptions in 100 pass attempts. He throws an interception on 2% of his pass attempts.
Jarrett Lee has 3 interceptions on 167 pass attempts. He throws an interception on 1.8% of his pass attempts.
That means that Jordan Jefferson either throws an interception or gets sacked every 6.25 pass attempts
That means that Jarrett Lee either throws an interception or gets sacked every 23.8 pass attempts

Plus, a realistic passing threat would open up the run some, and scale back some of that pressure.

Take your logic somewhere else.

At least you upped your post count to 13505 without adding anything of any significance to this board. At least I contributed some stats for discussion.

JJ can run a little, but Lee has a quick release. Advantage, Lee.
Advantage Lee on everything. I said it after the Western Kentucky game and I am saying it now. You never should have benched Lee. Bring JJ in situationally and start Lee. Both play and offense is diverse.

Sacks occur when two things happen primarily:
1) A QB holds on to the ball too long regardless of what his feet are doing
2) A defense sells out on the pass and mauls the line overwhelming the protection and causing even more of #1
Both happened Monday. Lee would have changed #2. I don't buy that with Lee in, they blitz more. They have to defend the obvious pass. Plus I felt Lee was better at selling the option than JJ based on the limited evidence (W.Ku). And he's always better than #1, sometimes to a fault, but not this year.
Les is a stubborn coach and that's why it's unfortunate. How as a fan do we fix this? I don't see how other than continuing to pressure the administration and university to wake up Les to the reality that he has to evolve his game and stop being the final judge on on the field talent. He's gotten it wrong so many times now with Jamarcus and Jordan that he's seriously risking recruiting if he continues to be unaccountable to his actions

Mettenburger? You can't be talking about Lee. Lee doesn't take many sacks...he mostly throws the ball up for grabs, as evidenced by his two picks in the first game.

He had good protection for most of the 1st 8 games of the season. Despite that somehow he still got rattled as soon as he started facing pressure against Bama. We all should know what happens to Lee when he is dealing with pressure
With that said I wouldn't have minded seeing him out there even though I was sure it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Jj sucks as a runner. Never WAS a DUAL threat.
Not even close. Can't cut, shitty vision, slow. The burger is prolly a better dual threat.

So you are saying that Lee threw too many INTs this year based on the Nov. 5 game? He threw 3 INTs ALL YEAR. There is no way we could have been any worse off with him over JJ.

Well, thank God we avoided interceptions by playing JJ on Monday.
Oh, wait...

He was lying, but his reason could be a lot of different things.

 You serious, Clark? So you are saying the head coach shouldn't be responsible for being the final judge of the talent he puts on the field?
And what is this shite about Jamarcus? He was the best QB on the roster by a long shot, why wouldn't Les play him.

Stats don't always tell the whole story.
How many sack yards for both?
What about the amount of bubble screens from Iform twins to Beckham for Lee as compared to JJ. What about the number of incompletitions from hurries?
When JJ is pressured, he hangs in there to a fault in an attempt to take the hit and deliver the ball, and a large number of his sacks loss minimal yardage because he's scrambling back towards the LOS, while on the other hand, Lee is folding up 6 yards in the backfield. Lee gets happy feet, and will toss the ball up for grabs.
Stats paint a picture, but don't tell the whole story.

Lee gets sacked less than Jefferson for one reason: Nine times out of ten, Lee is going to grab it and let it fly. Period.
Don't get me wrong, I kept hoping he would get in the game Monday night. He can be very accurate at times and can make throws Jefferson can't. But Lee is gonna let it fly if the receiver is open or not. It's just what he does. And yes, he did it his entire career, even in the great run to open the season. He's just so accurate at times that he can squeeze the throw in sometimes when he shouldn't throw it in the first place.
We had receivers open the other night and Jefferson couldn't get the ball to them. Maybe Lee would have. You've just got to be willing to accept whatever you get from him. He'll always be a favorite of mine because of his team attitude and loyalty, along with the great start he gave us this year. He deserved a chance to at least have a shot at a memorable night in his final game.

Jefferson is like a fan. One side sucks, the other side blows.
