I usually focus on the game and don't care who the announcers are, yesterday was so bad it was impossible to ignore. Many factual errors, 2005 game chat was hysterically incorrect, and then that BJ they gave Peyton for the whole 3rd quarter was ridiculous. They just chatted over the game like 2 old maids at a quilting bee, pay after play was run with no comment about the game.

The 8th team announcers we usually get saddled with for the Arky game were better than these 2.

Vern and Gary are the worst announcers in the history of sports. It makes CBS the worst

I enjoy listening to Verne and Gary but the Peyton Manning shite was aggravating. Certainly after we score they're just like "Oh and LSU just scored."

Danielson is terrible. He needs to go back to doing CFL games in Alberta.

I agree. It was of very poor quality.

Manning was witty as hell and I usually HATE him.

He would instantly be the best color guy in the business if he stepped in the booth full time.

And I like Verne and Gary too, so there

I personally enjoyed Peyton asking Gary what it was like to be a career backup

they have gotten progressively worse, with many factual errors and what not, but i do have to say, Danielson is one of the better color guys in terms of actual football strategy and knowledge... sure they get their dates mixed up, and sometimes mention the wrong historical person, but overall, i like Danielson....

now, as far as Verne.... he can choke on a dick... and i thought he was going to yesterday when Peyton was in the booth.... i mean, c'mon man... he was basically about to pull Peyton's pants down and fellate him right there!! "you can come back anytime" and "i'll pay to have you up here" and what not.... jesus christ, verne!

Danielson is the best color guy doing college ball. He's insightful and honest. But sometimes he doesn't think something related to LSU is as great as we want him to think it is so that makes him terrible!

Not any worse than usual. As a duo I think they're above average. Gary is great, but Verne is starting to show his age. Think Andy Rooney 6-7 years ago.

In-booth in-game interviews always suck - it's hard to avoid that there's a game going on. Painful, painful to endure, even if it's someone you want to listen to.

I did like the facemask touching issue that Gary brought up. That's been a pet peeve of mine for a long time. Didn't get any legs, tho.

Peyton in the booth greatly increased the tolerance of the broadcast.

Gary Danielson is a top notch college analysis and Vern is more than adequate doing play by play.

Its something of a lame tradition for several hundred "CBS sucks" threads to make their way to this site every year.

There is never any "best ever" with CBS and Verne and Gary. Massive commercial blocks eat up the enjoyment - according to my own unscientific survey, CBS sells far more commercial time for these games than ESPN or ABC. Which means there are big blocks of "down-time" with nothing going on the field, both in the stadium and the living room whenever CBS broadcasts a game. I truly hope that if the SEC negotiates another television contract, that CBS is not the network that gets it.

Could not have said it any better. The gossip the entire time was only trumped by the egregious errors Verne made and the insults flying out of Danielson. They were awful.

I never listen to football announcers and only tune in to WWL, but I can't stand CBS and the lack of replays. Also watching the TV and listening to the radio makes me think I'm going to miss some of the game. The teams are lined up and ready and I'm still watching a damn commercial.

....CBS broadcasts are practically unwatchable b/c of the never-ending commercial breaks ... The "2:30" game kickoff was actually closer to 2:40 ( whereas the other 2:30 game starts were already 3:00 minutes into the games ( I channel surfed and watched them a bit ). Halftime came at approx 4:45 PM. Thats almost a 2.5 hour 1st half !! I'm thinking - good grief could this be a 4.5 hour game? this game wont be over 'til after 7:00 at this rate ! The prior 11:00 AM Moo State / USC game had to be moved to another channel for 4th quarter b/c it was STILL going on at 2:30 ! Can't stand CBS ...
