we got soft for a few years but now with this oregon game it seems our fanbase maybe cured of being soft.

The majority of the trashy, shitty people that I ran into this passed weekend in Dallas were LSU fans. I was pretty embarrassed, but it won't stop me from going to games. I'll just put up with it and continue to enjoy the games.

It just may be that you've gotten older and forgot how stupid you were back then. I remember in the mid 80's, when I went to LSU, I saw some of the same stupid, drunk, childish things go on there. Back then I thought it was fun and cool. Now I don't care for it one bit.

Sadly, you are correct. I have been going to the games since I was 5, some 48 years ago. I have an undergraduate and graduate degree from LSU and was involved in LSU athletics while in undergrad. I have 2 kids who have graduated and 2 that are current students.
People on the Rant may not want to hear this, but it is true. The only times I have had problems with unruly fans has been with other LSU fans. I am sure that other schools have their jerks too, it just seems we have more than most.

I use to care what other fans thought about us, but now I really don't give a shite. I never treated opposing fans disrespectfully when I went to LSU, and I still don't, so what other people do has no effect on me whatsoever. I will continue to treat not only opposing fans, but everyone with respect, and those who feel the need not to are just going to continue to be trash. Every fanbase has them, we may have more than average, boo hoo, there's nothing we can do about it.

Whatever. I was there too and 99 percent of what I saw was in good fun. Actually, and surprisingly, only about half of the duck stuff I saw was in good fun. You were just in an unlucky spot or something. We had a blast.

I think there was a gas station down the street from the beer throwers. I'm sure they had tampons, you should've stopped by and grabbed a few. Maybe you would've been able to enjoy the game. Sorry, you missed a good one.

I agree. Don't let others ruin your good time and experience. If you give in to their charades, they will know their motives have worked. It is horrendous that people take it too far and don't know how to banter without getting vulgar, physical, etc.

I had two Oregon fans walk right up to me and try to start shite the second I walked into a bar in downtown dallas. Not only were they assholes, but the sucked at talking shite as well. Luckily, I am fricking cool, calm and collected so nothing went down. Every team from every city has shitty fans, but the other millions of non-shitty LSU fans are the best fans in the world.

The main times I have seen issues with unruly fans has been on LSU's campus. Because, I'm on LSU's campus a whole lot more than on other college campuses.
That said, in my years attending some of college football's greatest venues, I've personally seen 'issues' with EVERY fanbase EVER.
I witnessed, in every Georgia game I attended over a ten year period, at east one episode of car vandalism on opposing fans' cars after a game.
After a ND/FSU game in the late 80s, I watched a bunch of victorious, drunken "irishmen" take a piss on an FSU fan in a bar.
I have seen more than one ole miss fan scream vulgarities at opposing fans of all ages.
I've been to almost every SEC venue, and many, many others outside of our conference, and I have seen shite EVERYWHERE.
The reasonable part of me tells me that if I went to mostly ND, UM, GA, FSU, Texas games, etc, I'd see more issues with those fanbases than I'd see with others.
That same reasonable part of me, along with experience at LSU games where the vast majority of fans were JUST FINE, tells me that the pearl-clutching ninnies need to stay the frick home and give me their season tickets.

I know what you mean Buddapank. I've been going to games since 1973 and it has gone downhill.
For instance there are more people. And the students are loud and fun. The music is louder. The team is better. the band is better. The Coach is better. The matchups are better. The tailgating is better.There are more comfortable seats, and more bathrooms, and better food selections.The rivalries are more intense. the level of competition better.
Meanwhile, I have sciatica and my back hurts the longer I sit there. My wife is 25 years older than my date used to be. I get drunk after three drinks now, instead of 23. All the people that sit around me are old assholes like you and me who yell "down in front", instead of the impossibly hot hot coeds of our youth.We leave early because we want to beat the traffic. And then we start whiny threads about how everything used to be better.
You don't have to tell me it's going downhill !
It's called getting older, assface. .
Now run along, you have a Love Boat retrospective to watch, or whatever you do.
Stay at home and do us all a favor.
You are too delicate for Tiger football.
