and i would imagine even if true will be swept under the rug just in time for the oregon game .. the LSU cover up machine will take care of this regardless and people like you will be just fine with it ..
This isnt nam we have rules here. If reports of him possibly having 2nd degree battery are true he will be arrested. They could make a simple misdemeanor go away but not a felony. Also you are ready to convict him off the guys friends story that they got from him in which he somehow knew that it was JJ who kicked him in the BACK of the head. Forgive me if I wait to see what happens.

if arrests are made, "in house" no longer is an option for dealing with the infraction. Wouldn't you agree LT?
Agreed.
And when people went to the hospital, it is also not "in house" anymore.

last night gray was trying to convince us that vicarious liability could attach to LSU in some way for this and he knows because he has experience working in the insurance field.
But I backed off after getting advice from a law school STUDENT didn't I?
I mean I have to admit that real world experience is worthless when confronted by someone studying but with no practical experience in a matter, isn't it?
But one has to ask why drag that into this discussion?

that curfew he talked about, simply was not enforced. Like you said, there were at least 20-30 other players there. That just doesn't magically happen.

I think he feels pretty fricking betrayed honestly.

Sometimes theres these things called stitches that people need after fights. you have to go to the hospital to get them especially at 2 am. Just because they went to the ER doesnt mean they were on their death bed. I mean come on its like yall want our football team to be the bloods or the crypts.

They had bed checks.

Because someone said that LSU is going to sweep this under the rug possibly for the reasons you stated earlier.

Yeah, I used to suture people up.

Didn't say that.

Didn't say or imply that either.

Pretty disappointing to read that breaking rules isn't a big deal to you. A navy officer.
Jesus Christ. I almost let this one go, but screw it.
Because I live in a scary place called the "real world", I recognize that no one follows every rule at all times. Breaking some rules = serious business (like stomping some dudes head, for instance). Curfew could be serious were it a work night, or during preps for a deployment or operation. But breaking curfew (a 2230 curfew at that) on a Thursday night in college is not a big deal. I'm sorry. Maybe I have one of those convoluted nuanced perspectives, but in and of itself, a curfew is generally not a big deal.
If someone in my charge was caught doing so on a routine night, I'd be compelled to punish him or her. Obviously the circumstances would dictate the sanction. What I object to is the moral outrage over something so mundane. They're fricking college kids. Young men are going to do shite like this. That something more came of it is unfortunate, even tragic. But that's a separate matter. The problem with you "law and order" types is that you think everything needs to be settled at the highest level with the most exacting punishment prescibable. I think things should be dealt with in-house, whenever possible, and escalated only out of necessity.
If you were a military officer you'd know how much time you could spend on paperwork if you drew up an article 15/Captain's Mast everytime some seaman/PFC did something stupid.

Breaking curfew is far from a minimal level of disrespect. Do you have children? Let them sneak out of the house at 1:30 am and see how 'minimal' it feels.

I agree with this statement from a military perspective, however, if arrests are made, "in house" no longer is an option for dealing with the infraction. Wouldn't you agree LT?
In general, yes. But I've SNCOs spring more than a few kids by promising the local PD (Norfolk, Seattle, and San Diego) that they'd deal with it. In the end, the cops thought it for the better.

I'm familiar with the process.
Secondly don't you think your reasoning is what actually contributed to this problem in the first place? Oh it is okay they are college kids simply breaking curfew turns into a few kids breaking curfew. They do it enough times and now more kids are doing it and more keep on coming. This leads to where we are at today. You give them an inch of rope and they take a mile. I am not sure how it is in the Naval world, but you give an E-4 the okay to break the rules he has lost total respect for you as his superior.

First, most of you have not been involved in a college program, so let me try and clarify for you the level of "disrespect" you keep citing.......minimal.
For the bulk of the players not involved in the fight but missing curfew, it was nothing more than getting a chance to blow off steam after working their asses off. That's it. It has happened on a large scale to every coach at LSU from Charlie to Les. Get over it. Don't blow it out of proportion!
You don't fricking suspend them, you run them and keep the matter in your own house. We called it Breakfast Club and it was fricking awful.
(so we should just kiss their asses for breaking curfew)
