I'm thinking about getting a toolbox for my truck but I don't know shite about them. I will be putting random shite in it that i dont want in my truck like jumper cables, truck cover, miscelanous tools, extra limits of pouldoux, etc..
-Whats the price range?
-Who makes good ones or are they all the same?
-Pros and cons?
-Etc...

Put one on my truck for Christmas. Got it from Lowes for round 150 or so(was on sale). Works great, looks good, and holds my tool box, tackle box, and a rod.

I was looking into it for a while but never got one. Weathertech makes really nice ones from what I've read but they're pricey. I like the UWS models as well, but I was probably gonna go with one from tractor supply for the price, and they seem to hold up to normal non-industrial use from the reviews I read.

I was looking at low profiles FWIW

CDI, UWS, DeeZee.

The hinges and locks are always what brakes, so make sure you check them out.

Also, not sure if it's true, but I read multiple places that the home depot, lowes, and tractor supply co branded ones are made by the same manufacturer and just badged for each store.

They looked the same when I got mine so I wouldn't put it past them. Only reason I got mine from Lowes was because A.) JJ48 is a man B.) They had that shite on sale for Christmas.

Not sure if lowes or home depot offer one in black, but that's why I want a tractor supply one, I wanted one in black.

I'd def get low profile, looks 100% better IMO, especially on a newer truck.

I bought mine from Tractor Supply about 7 years ago. Bought the black low profile. Still looks great & I have had no problems.

I've had a black powder coated low profile UWS one for 5+ years and it's damn nice. They injected the lid with some structural foam (or something) so it's bowed out a bit, and solid as hell. I think mine was around $400 if I remember correctly. It's gotta be at the top of price range cause I can't imagine a better one being made.

I have one from UWS, it came on the truck so no idea on cost. Only problem i had was the lock was very hard to work with so I replaced it. No other problems.

Rawson-Koenig, have had the same box since '97 on 2 different trucks. I buy only from a place right outside of NOLA, but I'm sure they have other places nearer you that sell the brand. They aren't cheap, but they are secure, strong?thick and have good locks. I use mine a lot and have only changed the pistons($20) on it.

Not hating, because I think the UWS is a damn good box, but the weatherguard ones are over $600. Insane.

I have a weatherguard and like it. I had a rawson koenig box before this one and it was too heavy and dented the bed on 2 trucks. This was the steel model though, they also make one in aluminum. I dont really like the low profile boxes on big trucks like the F250.

Had the same thing happen with a previous metal box. Mine is the aluminum one and it's 1.5 times larger that most all standard boxes. I bet I could put one in it actually. Think I paid $400+ for it in '97.

I have the Rawson Koenig (RKI) C Series single lid on my truck for quite some time and I have been very happy with it.
