Iowa can't have a rivalry with ISU AND Schedule a home and home with another BCS school without losing one home game over two years
A lot of Iowa fans have wanted to end the ISU game for years since all we do is supplement their Athletic Program and we don't get much in return in terms of exposure or recruiting bonuses since Iowa can pretty much get any recruit they want from Iowa as is. Iowa fans are hoping that the move to 9 B1G games will finally force the hand of the athletic directors and drop the Iowa/ISU series, but I doubt that happens.
I would like to see Iowa/ISU play two out of every four years. That way they keep the game going, but it allows Iowa to schedule a different BCS school for a home and away in the other two years they don't play ISU.

Why would you want to replace playing Southern Cal? Or Miami? Or Tennessee?

So you think its better for college football when there are less LSU/Oregon, OSU/Miami, Oklahoma/FSU matchups early in the season?
ETA: I want to see less rent-a-wins on my schedule, not further cement them into place, which is what I think ultimately happens by this.

Now you change your argument? LOL.

And as for LSU, I'd rather see a 9th SEC team on the sked than a quality OOC matchup; we'll get an almost-annual quality OOC matchup in January.

Here's why the SEC will never do it- your not going to find 2 SEC coaches much less 7, that would be willing to give up a home nonconference game.
quote:
Since 1992, the SEC has played in 767 regular-season nonconference games, sporting a 602-163-2 record. That’s a .786 winning percentage.
The SEC hasn’t had a losing record against nonconference opponents in that 19-year span. The highest regular-season winning percentage came in 1997 when the SEC went 32-4 (.889). The lowest winning percentage came in 2003 with a 31-15 (.674) record against nonconference foes.
Teams from the SEC have posted 29 wins in the past five years against nonconference Top 25 teams (teams that were ranked at the time the game was played), an average of almost six wins per season. Nine of the 12 SEC teams have at least one win against a nonconference Top 25 team in the past five years with Georgia (6), LSU (6), Florida (4), Alabama (4) and Auburn (3) leading the way.
Since 2006, the SEC has posted a higher nonconference winning percentage (regular season and bowls) than any other conference at 231-55 (.808). The SEC has won no less than 43 nonconference games (regular season and bowls) during the past four seasons (2006-2010).
Also, since 2006, the SEC has accrued more bowl wins (30) and bowl appearances (46) than any other conference.
Excluding bowl games, LSU has had the best nonconference record of SEC teams since 2000. The Tigers are 38-2 (.950) in that time. Arkansas is second with a record of 37-3 (.925). Vanderbilt is last with a 21-19 record (.525).

I'm not changing my argument. I've been saying you are going to see less quality OOC matchups because if you have them, then you inevitably will lose out on revenue from a home game.
Look at the case of Iowa. If they schedule a quality BCS opponent, they lose out on one home game's revenue. So all that's going to happen is you're going to play Iowa St and two shite balls every year. How can you be excited by that?

It will have nothing to do with SOS; it will be a money thing. If the B1G starts creeping up on the SEC in terms of money
I don't think the B1G has to creep up on the SEC in terms of money. AFAIK, that is already an even playing field and the SEC is just catching up to the B1G in terms of television revenue.

Whether you get it or not, the B1G knows what it's doing. They're going to cash in a bit here.

Again, you're wrong.
Last year OSU played 8 home games. They can never do that again once 2017 rolls around. That's lost revenue. Period.
ETA: Actually, they could do that again now that I think about it.

No way OSU should have been playing 8 home games to begin with. I wonder how many BCS schools played 8 home games last year. Hell, LSU only has 6 home games this year.

Why not? It brings in a ton more revenue than 7 home games.

We should have a maximum of 7 home games a year. Eight is absurd. Hell, USC plays 6 and 6 each year and they make a ton of money off of the football program.

We played Miami. Not of Ohio.

I would much rather play Wisconsin more often than schedule a non conference BCS school, but that's just me.

Yea, but it would only add them once, not every year. For every time you get Wisconsin you are going to get Indiana and Purdue. I'd much rather play Southern Cal than Northwestern.

Yeah, you have to count scheduling Da U as a quality opponent. What sucks is when you schedule an OOC opponent when they're good and they blow when you play them. Still, Miami could certainly be judged as quality OOC last year.
