Wrong. It would be easier for LSU to win a nation championship if we had a easier schedule. Like was stated we have lost half of the last 10 games against Florida. That is 5 years with a loss that we might not have had, had we played a weaker opponent.

you gotta beat the best to be the best.

doesn't matter if we would have made it to ATL more if we would have lost to Florida there anyway.

I think its great for our program that we play them every year, and i hope it continues.

Just messing with you. If I had to guess 96 was probably a 50-10 beat down.

Didn't Satan win the '03 BCS championship even after a loss to Zook's boys??

the permanent rivalries are ridiculous and stupid.

Actually, LSU and UF played every year from 1953 to 1991 except for three years: '68, '69, and '70.

Also, LSU and Kentucky played every year since 1949 except for '51, until they discontinued that permanent rivalry in 2002.

The point is that LSU was already playing UF and KY every year when the conference split, so making them permanent rivals made sense at the time.

It only made sense because you already had Alabama/Tennessee and Auburn/Georgia and Arkansas, Mississippi State, or Ole Miss sure as hell weren't going to play Florida every season.

I can't imagine nor would want a season without the Tigers on the schedule. Not our biggest rivalry. but always one of our biggest most entertaining games.

No, like I said, it made sense because we were already playing them every year.

Our annual SEC matchups through the 50s-80s were Alabama, Ole Miss, State, UF and KY. Tulane was also an annual conference matchup until they left the SEC in the 60s, but then continued on as an annual OOC rivalry - along with Rice.

1950-1980: Alabama, Ole Miss, State, UF, KY, Tulane and Rice were on the schedule pretty much every year.

Agreed. We don't need to dodge teams in our own conference.

I'm fine with playing Florida every year...but I'm not particularly sold on when we play them on the schedule.

I personally would rather play them the 2nd week in October as opposed to the first.

We share that date with the Texas/OU game, and I feel like LSU/UF deserves to be the feature game on that particular saturday instead of sharing the spotlight with that game.

This is a great matchup every year. Both schools are better because of it.

florida has been my #1 hated SEC team since bout 1984. i hate florida. hate them! thus, I want the rivalry to remain. historically, LSU owned Florida prior to Spurrier (like much of the SEC powers).

even when we were getting our butts beat, at least we took the field and gave it a shot. now things are much more even.

I enjoy playing Florida every year. Not only does it pair up two of the most interesting programs in CFB, it also pairs up two huge fanbases. I almost said "two awesome fanbases", but the UF fanbase is really shitty. Bandwagoners who don't show up to tailgate until noon.

Only 2 school with 2 BCS Championships.

The best thing about playing Florida is a loss is not nearly as damaging as a loss to Vandy. And we can lose to Florida every year...as long as we win the rest of our games and play for the SEC Championship.

I love playing Florida...like Nawlens Gator says..."both schools are better because of it."
