I hear no rollover, 7 year contract, same base plus some additional bonuses, same guaranteed, 18.75 mil

So basically he got a 1 year extension as far as guaranteed money goes. with the last 2 years not guaranteed and some increased bonuses.

If this is true, I really am done ever defending Alleva.

So Alleva doubled down. If Les doesn't win the SEC West next year, Alleva's head will look a lot more like Jordy's.

you can have a buyout clause to terminate a contract early. it's a common feature

I haven't read many coaching contracts, admittedly, but I would think most of the top ones would be guaranteed if terminated without cause, with "cause" being spelled out in the provisions.

You do realize SEC Titles have equaled BCS Titles lately. So you are mad he hasn't won more than 1 NC so far?

He apparently got Alleva all scared he wouldn't be able to replace him, and got a big arse new contract out of it.

how did he scare Alleva?

you only rape the unwilling...did he tie Alleva up and threaten to kill him?

Would be funny to get a fark using Alleva's expressions from the Miles Presser after the Tennessee game.

Big new arse contract?? it's nearly the same, no roll is a big help to lsu, the new revisions aren't that crazy at all...seems very fair to both sides to me

Slow just has to be his usual arse clown self and find a way to bash miles, aleva, LSU, and the water boy. He's the typical antagonist in a great film, every film needs it, but boy do they suck.

Thanks for the info...it's real important to the haters that he screwed LSU and the contract is way skewed in his favor. they will also bang the drum that Mich never offered and LSU caved.

i'm curious if the 18.5 million reduces per year. if so, i don't have a problem with the agreement.

i figure he should do well for another 3 years with the current team and incoming recruits. if he slips in four or five, then you are getting close to the end of the contract.

The buyout was already too big, so any increase is marginally worse.

I think it's the 18.75 or whatever that number is for 2 years then it begins to decrease.

Not an attack on this post, but what is meant by "if he slips"? Like, slips like UF this year? Slips like Bama this year? Or epic slips like TX this year?
-
My point...EVERY program has "down" years. At what point is a "down" year understandable to the fan base in general here?
-
I'm one of those weirdos that understood that the removal of the cancer in spring 2008 was gonna leave LSU in a tough position for a couple of years. I also think it would have been wise to have more than a couple of freshman and a Harvard transfer ready if needed. But Urban Meyer had no doubt that Tebow was gone after last season, and he had nobody qualified to replace him. And before you say Cam, Cam was a cancer that Meyer should've removed himself. Instead, he waited until he saw the success Cam was having at AU to start leaking about his cheating at UF.
Mack Brown had 5 years to replace McCoy, but didn't have anyone ready.
-
IMO, LSU 2008 was no worse than UF or TX this season...and MUCH better than TX, in fact. Everyone has a down year or two. Miles has recovered with an 11-2 season, in the best conference, in a LOADED division. 5 of the 6 in the top 15, IIRC. The guy's good...no matter how weird/quirky he is. NOBODY is without flaw.

The increase in the buyout as it currently stands was basically adding one more year's worth of Salary. He already was going to get extended for this season, but ouch.

Basically it meanst that Les got extended after going 6-5 in the regular season in 2008 against FBS competition. OUCH.

In the end, if it's the same buyout but over 7 years, it means it drops by $1M less per year now than before. So now if LSU wants to part ways with Les after 2015, it will still cost them a minimum of $5.4 million!

So basically, he could go 0-12 for the next two years in a row and he's still going to be owed $18.75 Million? That is the most retarded thing I've ever heard, but this is LSU we're talking about.

The 0-24 streak will be promptly followed by the end of the world on Dec. 21, 2012. Why worry about the $18.75 million buyout?

Seems fair to me. If we really want Miles, and at this point we do, an extension with a few years sheltered is appropriate. We couldn't really expect Les to turn down Michigan in exchange for one year renewable with no guarantee. For anyone who hasn't noticed, Les and his staff earned it this year.
