LSU faithful- defend our coach! (open letter)
he deserves all the ridicule he is receiving

Does he? What the hell does it matter about his hat, or his speech? Or more recently his windbreaker or shoes?

Clock management- there are lots of teams that let time slip away before calling time out. For all the publicity we have on a few plays, we probably don't lead the country in delay of game penalties. As for the Ole Miss game last year (Exhibit A for clock management), re- the clock-it call.. it didn't matter if he did a double backflip and pumped his fist instead, the game was over. The clock runs out before you can get a snap. The prior plays when time ran down, hell, we got our butts kicked and had no business being anywhere near that close. Any credit given in return? Nah, he's an idiot. Then there's the Tennessee game.

Now, if you're older, you may remember the Colorado/Mizzou game, where Colo won the game on 5th down (that wasn't even caught by the officials). They ended up sharing the Nat'l title that year. Miles didn't do anything that hasn't been done before, by successful coaches. His teams have also ran 2 minute drills too, and have won because of that.

My sole point to this thread is: you can skewer him all you like here and other LSU-related places. Fine. That's us. But whenever ESPN starts their crap, call them out on it:
What about Stoops at Okla, where he should be going no worse than 10-2 in a down year (Texas, Nebraska)? Ain't he a fool too?
Why the respect toward Beamer and VT, hasn't he figured out "offense" is part of the game?
Ohio State? Was Tressel a stand-in on Happy Days? Can't anyone buy the poor sap some sleeves and a football calendar with bowl games listed, so he prepares the team to play?
Urban Meyer must be a complete fricking moron to have those recruiting classes, and not be able to score. Right?

The list can go on, but the point is clear enough. We're 7-1. We're LSU. We can bitch about our coach if we like, but until we don't post a winning record, Beano and Kirk and Dr Lou can kiss Les' (or anybody else associated with LSU) arse.

Thanks Scoob, for joining the fight to defend our coach and our 7-1 LSU football team, that still has a chance for a great season and maybe even a championship.

I wish I could rub a magic lantern and make all these irrational negatigers immediately become South Carolina fans. In 18 years, not 1 SEC title and not a whiff of a BCS title.

Les Miles is a fighter, he once again has LSU in the BCS discussion, and he and this team deserve respect and support.

If you think LSU can get a better head coach, fine!

But now is not the time.

Wait until the season is over to trash our coach and everything about his LSU football program.

We are still in the heat of the battle for a championship right now, so support your coach and your team as long as there is a chance for LSU to complete a great season.

You irrational cry babies are demoralizing your own fan base and hurting your own team, with your infantile, non-stop temper tantrums.

Obviously many you are not going to immediatley gain the maturity or the integrity to admit the damage you are doing to our team.

But maybe you could at least STFU and stop demoralizing the fan base, coaches and team any further, until after the season is over!

You are NOT Tiger fans!

It's fine to dislike miles for his coaching that you don't agree with but he at least deserves some respect from the fans. It is pretty appalling to read the personal attacks on players and coaches by the people on here. I wish someone could tell me how constantly dragging miles, the other coaches and players through the mud is in anyway productive or even right. What great fans this school has.

You are an idiot. The media could give a rat's arse about Less defending LSU.

You're post uses Less Logic. By Less's own logic ("we're undefeated in regulation") this team is actually 6-2, having LOST to Tennessee in regulation.

It's great you want to defend Miles and on the basis of 'we should support LSU' I agree completely.

But seriously, man, get your head out of your arse. This team maybe wins 2/4 and possibly 1/4 the rest of the year (I just can't imaging losing to Ole Miss at home with our defense).

Re-post at the end of the year when we're sitting 8-4.

Calling coach miles "less" is so creative and really makes people want to take you seriously. what a tool.

I've come to realize there are a lot of very young posters on this board. And those that are older who post all the disgraceful negative posts still have very young minds. If anyone of them had a son playing on the football team they would be having fits over fans saying bad things about their kid.

So we should not question decisions the coaching staff make? It is not fair to question why there were no adjustments made against Auburn or why he struggles managing the clkock, 4th down plays that are chaotic with outcome of the game on the line. I am tired of hearing the term negatigers b/c we don't agree with every move the coaching staff makes. Fanbases on every level 2nd guess it is human nature to do so. I have no problem admitting this team has poor coaching those of you who disagree are free to do so but it is an opinion that everyone is entitled to have.

I was a fan long before miles was our coach and will be one long after he leaves. I question the miles supporters are yall LSU fans or miles fans? Seems to me the ones who question the offense and lack of execution etc are the true fans who do not want to see this program regress.

Are you the guy who sat next to me at the Auburn game and said you would kick my arse if i bitched about Miles or Crowton again??

No I AM!
Sorry, just kidding! I couldn't pass it up!
Just found some humor in it!

I think that what Scoob is saying is it really comes down to the impression that the other fans are getting of us right now! I was in the Home Depot in Mobile Alabama last weekend, and someone saw my LSU purse, and LSU phone, and LSU check book, and you get the picture... and commented on "what do I think of Les Miles", and before I could finish my answer, he said, "Lady, there isn't anyone in the college scene that doesn't know he is an idiot because all you have to do is get on any of your LSU forums and see all the bashing!" My only response was, why would you need to get on our LSU boards? Is yours that boring?
Well, anyway, you get the picture. It isn't that we don't all agree that Miles is not what any of us hoped for....but until the time comes that he is gone, we as a fan base kind of owe it to OURSELVES, not Miles, to be LSU!! and that says it all.

I'm going to assume this thread didn't get the reaction you were looking for.

to Miles

What people don't realize is that he really isn't this goofy nice guy. He's an arrogant, can't admit to being wrong Yankee. If you can support that, well you go for it. I refuse to. After so many screw up on his behalfs he may have earned a little of my respect by donating some of his salary back when he realized he didn't earn it last year.

HE DARED TO DEFY THE NATIONAL MEDIA'S ANNOINTMENT OF USC, AND SAID LSU WAS BETTER!

Much truth in that statement. However the game management issues the last couple of years coupled with the coaching staff's inability to maximize the offensive talent have swayed many of those(including myself) who have stauchly supported the Miles regime. Even the horrid Defense of '08 didn't linger with me because Les made a mistake and corrected it after one season. But this inability to get the most out of the offensive talent available is problematic, especially when coupled with the time issues(which are also just with the offense you notice). Remember that you must manage the clock when on defense as well with your timeouts and that has never been a problem. Only when the Tigers have the ball. So offensive coaching, or lack thereof, would seem to be the single-most important area to fix. Being supportive of your school, team , coaching staff, etc. does not mean you have to accept being 2nd-rate. The bar reached the ultimate highth in '07 and the team has slipped well beneath it now. Time to get better. Beat Alabama and the healing can commence.

For this sin- for stating LSU was as good a team as there is, and honoring the accomplishments of the prior coach when everyone nationally was on USC's boat, Les will always be attacked.

When I hear a Tiger fan complain about Miles, I assure you this is never on the list.

If anything, I think Miles got some props from LSU fans on this one. I personally don't mind the way he looks/talks/the wind breaker he wears in 90 degree heat, etc. You can do all of those things and still be a phenomenal coach.

What I, as well as most Tiger fans fault Miles for, are his skill sets that are directly relevant to coaching at this level. We are an elite program with absolute studs all over our roster. It is totally inexcusable that the mediocrity on offense has been allowed. A 100 ranking with the 5 star talent we have on that side of the ball is abhorrent.

Miles had an opportunity to go out over this off season and hire a capable OC...he didn't. And now we are faced with the reality where we need to resort to trickeration rather than execution and utilization of our talent to get the big plays and yardage. Might I remind you, we were only able to put up 17 against one of the worst Ds in the SEC.

There are much, much bigger problems concerning Miles than what comes out of his mouth. And it starts with Crowton, the highest paid, most underperforming OC in the conference.
