So. What's your point?

You have to ask? Dalton was a running back that would lead the NFL in TD's one year.

Apples and oranges comparison.
Pro style offense to Crowton's multiple.

Why because we run a spread offense now? We hardly ever even got in shotgun back then.

I know we need a option type qb in this offense that we run right now.
Herb Tyler could run it better than both JJ and Lee.

Understand? I know football.

I just didn't see the comparison.
Offenses were not even close to being the same.
And you know it.

Nope, not yet. Maybe later.

I saw Tommy play every game in Tiger Stadium, and most of PP's games on TV (plus last week in person). PP is good, but not up to Tommy. Yet.

When Tommy would run, it seemed more like he was gliding over glass he was so smooth. Flow is another word I would use. Patrick powers his way through everything; he is an *animal*. Both are great athletes, but Patrick hasn't reached the heights Tommy did. Yet.

Tommy Casanova is the best LSU player I ever saw. That said, as far as being a cover corner, I might give Peterson the edge. Peterson is a great player, a real horse. I still think Casanova is the best LSU player I ever saw.

Both are a product of good coaching.

Tommy Casanova was a freak. I don't recall anyone being as everywhere, on every play, as that dude was. Great player... but PP7 has scary talent all the same.

Two different athletes playing in two different eras, but they DO display the same kind of talent on the field........

TC also didn't play any offense

I seem to remember him playing quite a bit at halfback. Maybe someone can look up his career rushing stats.

I remember well the beat down LSU put on ole miss on national TV, a rarity in those days. Cassanova owned that game and Archie porbably still has nightmares about him. PP is great, but not yet a TCassanova

MCCAJUN,I think the Colorado player was Cliff Branch. He played WR at CU and then Oakland.

If Risher was OB for Tigers, they would be a 6 pt favorite this week instead of the dog.

They played in different eras, but Cass was more dominent in his time than PP has been to this point. They are/were both out standing players.

Joe Labruzzo has to rank as one of the top return men in LSU history. Chris Williams too!

In his defense, two games that come to mind that he did his part tp be the hero but FG kickers missed: 1) '84 vs UF (1st game of the season) Juan Betanzos missed a relatively short FG that would have won.

I was at that game. Went to the bathroom after the miss and someone had already written "Adios Betanzos" on the wall. Hated the game but never got over how fast that guy got that on the wall.

To me this is the reason that Tommy Casanova is the best between the two.

In Tommy Casanova's day you not only had to be good for a year you had to be good in all 3 years you played, then a freshman could not play so they had 3 years and to be considered the best at what you did you had to do it all 3 years. Unlike today and to me a big difference is, if you do it for one year then you are considered the best at what you do and then you leave to go Pro. A great deal of difference than when Tommy played.
