Lack of carbs is hitting me. I'm freezing and it's 75 degrees in my apartment.. Brings back memories of the first time I started Atkins. I know I'm going to feel like arse by tonight.

I don't think that is just lack of carbs. You are wearing a smaller coat of skin now. I used to always be hot. 140 pounds smaller and I am always cold. Makes for a cheaper electric bill in the summer.

While that's true, I usually keep my apartment at 70

You won't do that for much longer. Heck, I'm actually comfortable at 80 now.

Could also be withdrawal from those delicious craft beers.

Proud of myself. Went to Twin Peaks with some friends, hot wings (not the best of choices, but at least it's low carb fare) and water, no beers. Then it was a friend's birthday today so we hit Londoner and I escaped only having 1 captain morgan and diet coke. Had a great time and didn't screw my diet over. Practicing self control.. something I've struggled with as of late.

I knew the scale would probably bounce up some today but wasn't expecting that big of a bounce.

Figured I'd jump in on this. Got down to about 162 last summer but have basically gained it all back. Recently got laid off, so I'm kind of bored/unoccupied in between job searching, hoping to fill some of that time void with exercise [again]. Tightening the budget for the foreseeable future should reduce beer/going out/eating out consumption (which I'm sure is probably 80+% of the problem), also means I'm eating like a poor (hot dogs and stuff). Anyone have any tips on how to eat low-carb/healthy on a tight budget? 182/182/150

170/152/145 lunched at a place that added food to the salt to give the salt more flavor. kf, welcome back. you can also fill time voids by cooking meals yourself. eggs are cheap. watch for meat specials.

212/198/165 No change from last week. Stalled out again. Started lifting Friday. Stronglifts 5x5 program. After 5 sets of 5 squats with JUST THE BAR I could barely walk. They didn't feel great this morning either but I pushed through. Don't know how they'll recover for more on Wednesday. Anyway, diet has been spot on. It's just going to be slow from this point. Hope to have a good loss this week. On a sad note, a buddy passed away of a heart attack and stroke last week. 41 years old. Always been a big guy. Added motivation to skip the cookies and cake.

Like benchwarmer said, eggs! I boiled a dozen last night and eat three for breakfast. Buy chicken in bulk. Boneless skinless chicken thighs rule. Albertson's often has petite sirloins for "buy one get two free." Pork chops are cheap too. Anything is cheaper than eating out. I cooked a two pound sirloin last night and portioned it out for 4 days. Between eggs, tuna, sirloin, something different for dinner and vegetables I'm eating for around $8-10 a day. Now if you get all silly with prime new york strips and salmon it gets steep quick. If you have access, buy all your veggies at a produce market. The difference in price and quality is astounding.

I actually cook for myself a lot, the problem is I'm from south Louisiana and happen to be good at it. But seriously, I read a bunch of stuff last night online, I don't think it will be that hard to achieve actually. Eggs seem like a mainstay, I can smoke the shite out of some chickens and cheap pork cuts. I just wasn't sure what I could and couldn't eat, I forget that fat =/= carbs.
