Perfect Steak Dinner

I plan on making my dad dinner for his 50th birthday. I"ll be making steaks, can I hear everyone's ideas on what they love best with theirs? I have homegrown green beans so I'll be using them, and maybe some redskin potatoes, but give me options/ideas etc.

Green beans cook with diced onion and tomato, seson with basil. Potatoes roast with onion and garlic, in olive oil seasoned with a bit of Italian seasonings and Tonys.

I think thin, double fried french fries are the best with a juicy steak. Side of green beans and a fresh baked roll will just about do it. Maybe some creamed spinach or sauteed mushrooms on the side if you're trying to knock it out of the park.

I was thinking about slicing the redskins instead of cubing them, crisp them up real good for that french fry flavor or a mashed potato/cream cheese combo

Slice a couple of small yellow squash into your greenbeans along with an onion and a piece or two of bacon.
Roast the potatos THEN mash them with a little cream, butter, roasted onions and roasted garlic, salt, pepper and chopped green onions. Form into a patty and fry in a non stick skillet with a tablespoon olive oil and a tablespoon butter over medium heat until golden brown. Don't rush them. Not much cream. Just a tablespoon or so. You don't want them too loose.
Make them big enough to put the steak on top of. The juice will work well with the crispy potato. I like them kinda thin so they are more crispy than anything.

For me it is the perfectly cooked ribeye with a nice crust on it with some form of garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans broiled with garlic and olive oil.
Nice loaf of bread to sop up the juice.

Steak and potatoes baby! Baked potato and veggies, impossible to beat. However, make sure and serve steak with lump crab meat and sauteed mushrooms.

Oh lord. Now you gone and done it and you mentioned topping a steak with seafood.
I'm outta here before the food snobs show up with torches and pitforks to lynch you.
Although it might not happen until tomorrow since most of the foodies leave for bed around 11pm.

I figured ok since it is a birthday dinner. Hell I assumed tenderloin was automatic till I read rib-eye. New thought though... Easy, Porterhouse. /thread.
