A guy in my office went there and grew up in Chapel Hill. I don't think he could care less about something than UNC football. Big hoops fan though. He says his friends are really only interested in Heels football to pass the time until bball starts.

They are amazingly similar to UNC Basketball fans, but with less enthusiasm.

Lost a job once when the interviewer (UNC grad) remarked that they were strong in football too...always honest, I couldn't stiffle a hardy laugh.

Went to game LSU game in mid 80's there and several departing fans made sure I overheard their snide comments about "they weren't that tough" after we moderately whipped them...

One final Interaction..I worked in the area for 4 years. They made BIG deal over bb with NC St. Business connections took me to the game. The starting lineups were introduced and only one player from either team was from the ACC area. Love those intra-state rivalries.

Who cares about UNC fans when it comes to football? UNC is a basketball school.

Carolina football fan here. Yes, there are a scant few of us who like football more than basketball.

I've pulled for the Tigers in the SEC as long as I can remember. Bert Jones and Tommy Casanova are among the first memories I had of CFB as a kid.

I, for one, am not buying into the hype that surrounds this Tar Heel football team just yet. I feel like we still have some questions that need to be answered. On both sides of the ball.

Defensively, I think we can compete. Whether or not that'll be enough remains to be seen. Teams with QBs that move well, and, throw the intermediate pass well, have given us trouble the past two seasons. They've also shown the inability to get the big stop in late game situations. That directly cost us vs both FSU and NCSU in '09. Both of which had QBs who see the field well, and, throw intermediate routes well.

Offensively, QB and RB are big questions. TJ Yates is an exercise in frustration...lol. He has a nice touch on the deep ball, but, his short and intermediate range throws leave much to be desired. I am wondering just how much of a short leash Coach Davis will give him before he gives RS FR Brynn Renner a chance. At RB, I am thinking its going to be by committee.

I'm looking forward to our game. I am hoping it will be a good one. And, that whomever of you here that go to the game will meet some of our good fans, rather than the snobs who seem to show up at games like this.

I remember when they came here in '86 (and got drummed by Hodson, Davis, & Co. 30-3)they didn't bring many fans, but the ones I met were pretty good folks. They liked jambalaya, too.

I just hope we destroy them. Remember in recent years have defeated us in the post season in both basketball and baseball. We can't lose to them in football too, just can't.

Remind them that UVa is better academically and routinely beats them in football even when UNC has the better team. That usually pisses them off pretty well.

Good enough reason to not like them in my book...

UNC football fans hate a coach whose name doesn't begin with "K"....

We all know that UVA is a great academic institution. That said, any academic talk only tends to bother those who actually graduated from Carolina. Just from my own experiences, those of us fans who graduated from other institutions within the UNC System could not care less about that.

Football-wise, you will get zero excuses from me. Over the past 30 years, UVA have flat out been a better football program than we have. Coach Davis has yet to beat them, and, we have not won in Charlottesville since 1981. I am hoping that we break the duck on both of those streaks this season.

Honestly, had Carolina fired Bunting after the '04 season, and, he wanted to coach at Carolina, I would have welcomed it.

That said, I think we did ok for ourselves in the long run.

Unless an impatient fanbase with overblown expectations manage to run him off first.

its a lot like Bama fans, only you have the snotty part about the academics thrown in.

Why is it LSU fans think every fanbase from a good school is "snotty?"

Ya'll say the same shite about Texas.
