You mean you'd like to see him take sure fire National Championship teams and cash in early, preventing said Championship from being reached.

Yeah. 2006. I threw it out there.
So now 2006 was a "sure fire NC team". Tell me again... what was our conference road schedule in 2006? You expect a sure fire NC in a year with 4 road games against top 15 teams?

I do not want another mediocre season and have to go through another offseason hearing how it's going to get better in 2011 so I'd go with the option of more losses if it guarantees a coaching change.

I don't ever want a bad season and I think, inevitably, a large portion of fans will be unhappy with whoever is the coach. People were unhappy when Saban was here, too. So I don't think going 5-7 and firing Miles will end the non-stop bitching about how the program is run. I think whoever we hire will eventually find himself in the same situation with the fans.

But, if we want to get rid of Miles, how about by going 13-0, winning the national title, and then taking the Michigan job?

What's more amazing is your thinking anyone should/would follow your directions on a sports forum.

I'm not getting into this hypothetical much other than to say I wouldn't be excited about hiring a coach who would turn 60 next fall.

shhhhhhhhh! dont ask questions that can actually come to fruition, the "battered wives" (i love him for the times he is good) will hear you. i mean, "the fab 4". you know, uncommoncents,lonnie4lsu, tigerdandy, choctaw. 8-5? then shite can his arse! even if we "lose close ones and play well". 9-4 with another clock debacle or "playing with matches" decision like 07 auburn (that doesnt work this time)- shite can him! i still go with my wild prediction- we swap coaches with michigan. i know, its crazy, but makes for good fodder on the rant. and really gets them started.

I'd really like to go 5-7 so I can be here to witness the bitching when LSU doesn't get the former Superbowl/National Championship/next big-name head coach, that everyone seems to think will beg to coach here.

This is an issue that I have been wrestling with for over a year. I never want my Tigers to do badly, and a 5 win year could be devastating for recruiting for years to come. My wish is for the Tigers to do well despite Miles and either have the powers that be realize how ultimately stupid he is, or for him to finally learn the game and make better decisions.

Like someone else said, I fear the worst and that is hovering in the Charlie Mac years of 2-4 losses each year and becoming another Wisconsin (a nice team but never top rate).

It'll never happen (that ship has sailed IMO, although I truly think it coule have possibly gone down in 2007 had Miles gone to Michigan), but can you imagine the absolute Bama meltdown if Saban were to ever come back to LSU? It would be historic.

I didn't say Saban was coming back. He's close to 60. You scoff at Butch Davis because of his age.

So I said you wouldn't be happy to get Saban back? Age is just a number brochacho.

I know what you said and didn't say. Somebody tried to make that the same point you are making when the coaching changes board was up after I got tired of seeing Butch Davis' name being mentioned in damn near every post as a possible replacement for Miles and said I basically would rather someone with more youth.

We've already done the Saban thing. He's not coming back. I don't expect to see him coaching that much longer anyway. I'd be surprised if he coaches any longer than the number of years he agreed to with Bama on his initial contract.

I scoff at Butch Davis because of his resume. He has managed to fool everyone and somehow be regarded by 'tards of teams who hate their current coaches as some elite football coach. He's not. In fact, I posit that he might very well be the most overrated coach in college football if not all sports in general. Dude hasn't really done shite.

His biggest accomplishment is LARRY COKER winning a national championship. He's been a college head coach 9 seasons, and has only had a team finish RANKED in 5 of those. He's only had ONE team finish in the top 10. His 2nd best team finished 14th. Four frickING teenth. The remaining 3 ranked teams of his finished 15th, 20th, and 21st. And none of those have been since the year 2000. Let me repeat that--BUTCH DAVIS HASN'T COACHED A TEAM THAT FINISHED RANKED IN THE TOP 25 SINCE THE YEAR 2000. All the while playing 6 of those years in the atrocious Big East, and the other 3 in the atrocious ACC. Speaking of the ACC, his conference records in that powerhouse conference have been 3-5, 4-4, and 4-4. HE'S NEVER FINISHED OVER .500 IN THE GODDAMN ACC AND HAS AN OVERALL LOSING RECORD!!! And they've lost 2 straight MEINEKE frickING CAR CARE BOWLS!!!!

Not to mention the embarrassment that was his NFL coaching career and the fact that he gets panic attacks.

But by all means, let's fire Les for him. He is guaranteed to be so much better.

Also, I find that it's the same Butch Davis nut-huggers that think Mark Richt, Bob Stoops, and Mack Brown all suck.

Butch did a great job turning that Miami program around and was probably a very good coach 10-12 years ago. But currently, he's very average, and there are about 30-40 I'd rather have than him.

Hard to argue with that. I include him in the list of prospects if the time comes.

You shouldn't. He's not leaving Nebraska for LSU. Especially not since they're about to join the Big 10. Not that LSU is a worse job than Nebraska(though it could easily be argued that it is), just that it's not so much better that anybody, after only a few years, would make that lateral move.

Thanks. After getting Butch's name thrown around so much, about a year ago, I actually looked up his work and was astounded that it was so mediocre. And I feel like I come off as hating Butch, and I absolutely do not--I have been pulling for him to get that UNC program up and running since he was hired. I only hate the 'tards who regurgitate his name over and over thinking he's great ONLY because they've read such on here or some other nonsense message board.

Nick Saban is the best current coach in college football and probably one of the better ones of all time. LSU was lucky as shite that the stars aligned and he came here, and we all benefitted greatly. However, 1)He will never the be the head football coach at LSU ever again. 2) He can't be the standard that all our future coaches are measured by. You cant' be intelligent and say, "He's not as good as Saban, therefore, he sucks." That's just terrible logic.
